Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Fancy Farm is Saturday and Matt’s the emcee. Here’s how to watch…

If you’re like me, you know very little about Fancy Farm other than it’s a political event and there’s a lot of BBQ. Our own Matt Jones is emceeing this year’s event, which is a pretty big deal when you consider the coverage it gets both locally and nationally. In fact, the Courier-Journal’s Joseph Gerth did a story about Matt’s hosting gig, which he says is one of the biggest curiosities heading into Saturday:

Jones, who is an unabashed Democrat, said he won’t take any shots at politicians who are there but he warned he may be critical of those who don’t attend – including U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, who is scheduled to be in Iowa this weekend.

Paul can’t make it, Jones said, because he “is busy. He’s got to go lose a presidential election.”

He said he gives credit to any politician willing to stand up at this event and others, but “politicians who retract from the moment or who think they’re too big to do something, that infuriates me.”

The picnic doesn’t happen until Saturday, but Matt, Ryan, and Drew will be there tomorrow morning for the show, which will be open to the public. If you’re in the area, head on out from ten to noon to enjoy the festivities and give Matt some encouraging words.

Here’s the schedule for Saturday’s picnic, which will air at 2:30 p.m. ET on KET. If you miss it, it’ll replay throughout the week. (For a full schedule, click here.)

Ah geese, Mrs. T. Can’t we keep politics off this site. It’s such a positive experience to visit here. Now my image of Matt has been totally tarnished. Can’t we just keep the subjects on the Cats and enjoy that together as fans without bursting bubbles of people’s political affiliations.

Maybe if you weren’t such an “unabashed ” Democrat, you would realize what political strategy was. Is it better to go to a local political event in my home state where I’m going to win a meaningless primary or go to Iowa where a good showing would be vastly more important? Come on Matt, I know you aren’t that dumb, just throwing a little political red meat to the libs in your audience. In the long run whatever you say about Paul will have zero effect on the race ( but it might get you invited back next year).

Unfortunately, living in Western Kentucky is a nightmare. The hate you will receive for saying somthing like, “I belive” will curse you here. The most ignorant people I meet in a day are conservatives in western Kentucky that receivea government money. They have no idea that receiveing a check from the USDA is a government handout. Western Kentucky Republicans are the dumbest people I’ve met in the world. That includes Lousiville Republicans and Eastern Kentucky Reblicans…..who believe giving 14 year olds cigarettes should be an economic policy. Be proud.

Free WiFi is only for the elites — not the masses…

In spite of the prevailing stereotypes and assumptions about who uses SNAP Food Stamp benefits the most in the United States, the highest usage is not in Compton, Queens, nor the South Side of Chicago. Instead, a city that is 99.22% white and 95% Republican comes in the lead. Owsley County, Kentucky is a community of about 5,000, residents earning the lowest median household income in the country outside of Puerto Rico, according to the U.S. Census.

Everyone has an opinion. I will toss this out though: the Republican Party has not done all it could do to destroy this great nation the last 7 years. It’s been exclusively done by the Dems who have controlled Congress and the white house the last 7 years. This point, cannot be argued.

You’re right. I remember when George W was president and it was all sunshine and rainbows, and gas prices were down and unemployment was at an all-time low, we weren’t sending troops to the Middle East, yadda yadda yadda….

Then the Dems came, and ruined it for everyone. Lol. Smh….

Yep,,,Would that be those same Democrats that are getting ready to give 10’s of billions of dollars to the number 1 sponsor of terrorism on the planet ? Or maybe those are the same Democrats that are telling everyone how great our economy is doing when our growth rate the first quarter was .02 % and 2.3% for the second quarter ? Or maybe the same Democrats that are pushing that Socialists agenda on the American people.
