Enes Kanter is currently in South Africa handing out food parcels and hanging out with the locals.

Forever hating the NCAA for not letting this guy put on a Kentucky jersey and play.

I think the NCAA ruled that he was paid to play basketball in Turkey. However little it was (30-some thousand?, which wasn’t comparable to a salary), and regardless of whether the funds were sequestered in a separate account (for education?), it stepped too close to the definition of professional basketball. The money came directly from the professional basketball team, instead of an agent. That’s what made it toxic. Yeah, it sucked, but oftentimes the rationale for decisions is overlooked or not understood because it’s easier to go with the meme that NCAA decisions never make sense.
