Elam named Second Team USA Today All-American

Christmas came a day early for Kentucky target Matt Elam, who received a pretty high honor on Christmas Eve. The John Hardin defensive tackle was named Second Team All-American by USA Today High School Sports. You can see USA Today’s entire list here.

247Sports’ Chris Fisher told us earlier today in his Recruiting Roundup that Kentucky has likely regained the momentum in Elam’s recruitment as the final stretch approaches. Elam is set to announce his decision a week from Saturday at the Army All-American Bowl and he’s down to UK and Alabama. Remember, he referred to UK as “we” during his interview with KSR on Monday.

Can we get a ‘Come on down’?

I hope the kid comes here because we can’t lose in state talent, seeing as how KY doesn’t produce many highly rated athletes, but am I the only one who cares more about all the offensive linemen who are being recruited?

Judging by the photo he clearly needs to re-learn some basic fundamentals. With that being said, UK clearly needs and wants this kid. I’m not too sure how much he could contribute early, I would definatily try to redshirt him if at all possible.

He won’t redshirt for one he will start and number two it’s hard to have good fundamentals as a lineman when the guy you are going against is a foot shorter than you.

Congratlations to the young man, obviously he has a great future and I hope it is close to home.

Program savior Drew Barker was the Courier Journal’s 2nd team all state qb. Oops.
