Former Kentucky basketball walk-on turned track and field star E.J. Floreal recently went on a podcast hosted by two of his former classmates from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington.
You can watch the podcast on YouTube or click the iTunes link below.
William Henderson and John Rose, both 2012 graduates from Dunbar, sit down with Floreal and discuss everything from what his rapper name would be (Chocolate Handsome Thunder Cat), to funniest memories of Coach John Calipari, to his favorite comic book characters and plenty more.
In the first 20 or so minutes of the podcast – titled Ebony and Ivory – Floreal talks about his time playing for the basketball team, the infamous Wisconsin loss, his father’s legacy as a track and field coach, and why he ultimately came to Kentucky to play hoops.
Among some of the other topics discussed includes his transition from basketball to track and field, NBA 2K, Karl-Anthony Towns’ body issue in ESPN the Magazine, his plans of being invited to the 2020 Olympics for track and field, among many others.
The podcast gives Kentucky fans a bit more insight about past teams and a player who wasn’t always in the spotlight as much as his NBA teammates. If you have less than an hour to burn, give the podcast a listen.
