Duke still the heavy favorite for Brandon Ingram

Brandon Ingram will announce his decision tonight at 6:10 p.m. ET, and right now, Kentucky’s chances don’t exactly look great. Duke is still the heavy favorite for the 6’8″ small forward from Kinston, North Carolina, with 79% of the 247 Sports Crystal Ball predictions. North Carolina is next with 12%, followed by 6% other and 3% Kentucky. Eeek.

This isn’t surprising–Ingram grew up a Duke fan and Coach K and his staff have pulled out all the stops since winning the National Championship two weeks ago (ugh), visiting Ingram twice in five days. And while we’ve learned never to count Calipari out, brace yourselves for what may be another dose of bad recruiting news in a little less than eight hours.

Regardless, we’ll have full coverage on the site tonight because that’s what we do.

I will not get sucked into building up the egos of these young kids! They are so caught up in how great they are! If he comes to KY, then great! I will not be watching on-line.

i don’t know why he would grow up a unc fan and go to duke … i’d like to think he can’t go to unc because he’s scared they’re going to be banned from postseason play, can’t go to duke because he grew up a unc fan, so there’s no other option but to just leave the state and come to uk where he can come in to an empty sf slot

who knows then … what I had heard was that he went to the same high school as Jerry Stackhouse and played on his team Stackhouse Elite and that they were pretty close … Matt said on the show today that he grew up in a North Carolina family and that Kingston is UNC town … but, yeah, there are some articles out there saying he grew up a Duke fan, too

lol no one seems to know. I’ve read on KSR multiple times that he’s been a life-long UNC fan. When I saw this post today I just thought it was a typo but seems like no one really knows.

Assuming Mulder commits the Murray kid from Canada is the key last recruit we need.

I can’t see why people are saying we only need one more player, folks we need big time scorers and none of our returning players are scorers. Unless we can get a couple that can put points on the board we’re not competing for a National Championship. We’re gonna be like last years Loserville team that’s a good defensive team and gonna suck offensively. You can bash me if you want but that’s the FACTS!!

Poythress, Brisco, and Skal are all scorers. You have an opinion, not facts.

And although Ulis’ role is not supposed to be that of scoring, he is capable of going off too. His 3 point shooting percentage was 43% last year.

J-Dub421, you’ve lost your mind if you think Poythress is a scorer!!!! That’s hilarious!!

Poythress led our team in scoring in the Bahamas. He can go off for quite a few points and score in a variety of ways. He’s not known as an outside shooter, but can hit the three. I think you’ve forgotten how good Poythress is.

I would not blame him one bit if he went to Duke. What young kid doesn’t dream of playing for their favorite team when they grow up? Add in the fact that his team just one the national championship and really wants him to come play for them, I would be very confused if he went anywhere other than Duke.

We don’t brace for bad recruiting news, we just reload. KSR would do well in not helping the haters by following a recruit that’s not likely going to join the BBN. Then if we do get surprised you will have plenty of time to boast on bragging rights.
