DJ Jeffries “all in” with Kentucky, but will still listen to Penny Hardaway’s pitch at Memphis

When Penny Hardaway was announced as the next head coach at Memphis, we all expected him to make an impact on the recruiting trail right off the bat.

Just a month later, Hardaway is making a move on Kentucky four-star commitment DJ Jeffries.

In an interview with Chris Fisher of The Cats Pause, Jeffries said he is “all in” with the Cats, but will be listening to Hardaway’s recruiting pitch going forward.

As for Kentucky’s top target for the class of 2019, Jeffries says he will be “working on getting (James Wiseman) to Kentucky” in the very near future.

Wiseman finished the opening loss with 19 points (9-13 FG) and nine rebounds against the NY Lightning. Jeffries finished with 13 points, two assists, and a rebound in the loss.

Well we have two guys who may be at UK on the same team that loses to the NY Lightning. Maybe we should be recruiting guys from the Lightning team.

In that picture Cal is just about to say the same choice word I said when I read the headline.

SMH….kid doesn’t even know what “all in” means. So already, we know he’s not very smart, and…regardless of what he says…isn’t really committed to UK or BBN. We don’t need that sh*t on our team.

They aren’t really a fan. Just a troll pretending. Don’t fall for it. They post the same crap on every post to work people up. Once people catch on they make a new name. This one has had like 10 by now.

Interesting the Penny would be recruiting a commit even though they have the prior relationship in the college basketball world that’s a big no no. Recruiting a commit is an easy and fast way to burn bridges.

Matt Jones wants you to pay more in taxes because Matt Jones is so smart that he will save Kentucky if he has your money!

Oh shut up lmao. It’s recruiting. Things happen. Nothing is final until they put that jersey on.

Don’t kid yourself, Penny Hardaway will be a very difficult person to dismiss in this situation. He’s trying to build a super team with all Memphis players. That’s a pretty compelling story to a young man that has known Hardaway for years.

Guys, why are we whining like Penny is going to take him away? Really? Cal has never had a decommitment at Kentucky. It’s not going to happen. Kid has wanted to be a wildcat for a long time. The fact he’s going to start recruiting Wiseman to UK says it all.

I’m not really worried about Jeffries, but I do have to laugh at someone who could write “he’s all in, but…” seriously? Do people even hear themselves anymore? I just shake my head. The way people talk these days is just a bunch of roundabout nonsense. And I’m 34, for the record.

Amen Terwilleger. We have a BS button from Amazon for our 18 y/o. Hit it all the time… it seems to be working. No one wants to offend, so they give u total meaningless BS, and no one challenges them because that would show disrespect. Mind numbing. Ask ur spouse if u can listen to someone else’s overture despite being “all in” then get ready to duck and run, preferably in a zig zag pattern!

If Penny wasn’t in the picture, we’d have Wiseman locked up. I just don’t see how the local Memphis players that have already played for him and respect him, leave their hometown. Has to be tremendous pressure.

After watching the interview, I think the quote was taken out of context here. He seems to have a lot of respect for Penny as a mentor, and respects his opinion. How many of you all would’ve chose the perfect words when you were being interviewed as a 17 or 18 year old?
