DeWayne Peevy will Stay at UK

Kentucky deputy athletic director DeWayne Peevy will stay at Kentucky a little longer.

John Calipari’s righthand man almost left Lexington for Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The Albuquerque Journal reports Peevy was one of three finalists to be the new athletic director at University of New Mexico.  The job ultimately was given to Eddie Nunez, formerly LSU’s deputy director of athletics.

The University of Kentucky is lucky to keep Peevy in Lexington.  He’s done an excellent job creating the Kentucky basketball schedule each year, but even more importantly, his close relationship with John Calipari has made the coach’s time at Kentucky enjoyable, and in turn, an unprecedented success.

Except for whoever decided to raise football ticket prices and change up the parking, our Athletics Department has done a great job and are definitely full of very competent individuals. Kudos to Barnhart for building up UK Athletics the right way his entire tenure here. We’re lucky to have him and all the people he hires.
