Dante Exum will declare for the NBA Draft

exum

For the past several months, Australian star Dante Exum has been mulling over whether or not to declare for the 2014 NBA Draft or go to college in the States for a year.  This morning, the speculation is over.  ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that Exum will declare for the NBA Draft, and has already agreed to hire agents Rob Pelinka and Brandon Rosenthal of Landmark Sports Agency.

If he had decided to go the college route, Exum was interested in Kentucky, along with Indiana, North Carolina, Michigan and Oregon.  Ford ranks him as the 4th best NBA prospect and the top point guard heading into the 2014 draft.

Moving on…

He had to make this decision. You can’t pass up the opportunity he has just to waste time in college.

I guess Matt’s secrete player prediction that he’s talked about for next year is now over.

    Secret player was Exum IMO.

I am all for going to the draft when you can go, but I think that it is bad that we have a system that eliminates American players from doing the same thing.

I dont blame him. His stock is high. He might go to college and struggle adapting to the game. You”ll never know.

Goodness this draft is going to be loaded. Embiid, Wiggens, Parker, Randle, Smart, and Exum could all be #1 pick in next years draft. T

Smart has hurt his stock by coming back.

I have yet to see anything spectacular. The Harrisons were ranked very high before coming here as well.
He has to prove it in workouts to be drafted above Smart. Smart will be just fine come June.
What’s wrong with returning to school when you are truly enjoying it?

Boogie would have been incredible had there been a Year 2.

I dunno–ask Nerlens Noel. Catastrophic injuries never happen.

He probably went ahead and declared because none of the schools on his list were willing to pay for him to take official visits. They all knew it would be a waste of money in the end.

Stacked draft, just another reason for some of our boys to stay.

For the record, my guess is Matt’s secret player is Myles Turner. Then again we already have Towns and Lyles coming in and Lee and probably Johnson staying so it’s hard to see him coming with all of that competition.

It’s Malik Newman reclassifying and committing to UK which is not likely now.
