Dane Key offered by Texas

One of the state’s top football recruits is starting to receive attention from the big dogs in the world of college football.

Monday morning Dane Key announced he has received a scholarship offer from the University of Texas. The Lexington Frederick Douglass wide receiver now has offers from 13 different schools, including Kentucky, Louisville, Oregon, Tennessee and Virginia Tech, just to name a few.

A rising junior in the class of 2022, Key is one of the most sought-after football prospects in the region. Last week ESPN ranked Key as the No. 184 player in the country (#14 ATH), while he came in at No. 223 (#28 WR) in 247 Sports’ national rankings.

The son of former Wildcat defensive back Donte Key and a family friend of Ryan Lemond, the latter said the offer from Texas is just the first of many to flood in over the foreseeable future. Until then, enjoy this catch Key made in 2019 that earned him a spot on SportsCenter’s Top 10.

Is Texas still a big dog though? They have lost 4 or more games every season since 2010.
