Dane Key begins open recruiting period on Kentucky’s campus

Less than 48 hours after the recruiting dead period ended, Dane Key was enjoying Kentucky’s campus as an unofficial visitor.

Make no mistake, the four-star pass-catcher from Lexington has been on the Wildcats’ campus plenty of times. He’s seen the facilities and watched games from the stands at Kroger Field. However, this is his first time receiving the full recruiting treatment in almost 18 months.

He started the open recruiting period with a bang, iced out behind a podium in the all-white uniforms. Key’s former Frederick Douglass teammates, OL Jager Burton and WR Dekel Crowdus, were quick to chime in.

Key, the son of former Kentucky linebacker Donte Key, is a Top 250 football player in the 2023 recruiting class. One of the top remaining targets on Kentucky’s big board, Oregon and South Carolina are considered a few of the other top contenders among his ten finalists.

Hosting one of the most talented players from your own backyard is a good way to kick off what will be an incredibly busy and exciting month of Kentucky football recruiting.

Mr. Key looks good in Blue & White. He will look even better scoring TDs in Blue & White. Donte, keep your game in the Bluegrass and roll with C n C, Coen and company!

Not sure what South Carolina has to offer. A mass exodus of players at the end of last season and UK has owned them of late.
