Damien Harris responds to Alabama sorority girl’s racist rant

There is an awful, awful video making its way all over the internet today from the University of Alabama. In it, an Alabama student from the Alpha Phi sorority says some horribly racist things as her sisters giggle in the background. She then doubled down with a second video, which was even more offensive than the first. I’ll spare you the specifics because you can probably guess what offensive word she used (frequently and viciously), on Martin Luther King Day of all days.

The University of Alabama had this to say about its notorious student, who is going to have a hard time finding a job in this lifetime:

These remarks are ignorant and disturbing and in no way reflect the values of The University of Alabama. This unfortunate behavior has been reported to the Office of Student Conduct as it does not align with the community expectations of students at the Capstone.

Kentucky’s own Damien Harris, the star running back on the Alabama football team, also commented on the matter:

You can see the sickening videos here, but proceed with caution because they’re disturbing.

She has since been expelled from school.

There is something seriously wrong with this girl, she should be expelled immediately.

Update: She has been expelled from the university and the sorority and the rest of the sorority girls are not allowed to wear the letters on themselves, cars, etc.

She seems like a pathetic, entitled little b!tch. At the same time though I have many black coworkers and I hear them drop the N bomb on a regular basis. In fact I even heard it today.
I must say the double standard is very confusing.

It’s not confusing. Just don’t say it. Or if you want to break the “double standard” start dropping it casual conversations with your black co-workers and gauge their response.

He’s a U6 fan so he’s not the brightest, evidenced by being a regular on a BBN fan site. He’s really just pathetic.

For once, I kind of agree with 502. By no means do I comend racism but… I don’t understand how colored folks use it amongst each other as if is like saying “bro”, but if a white person says it, it is all of the sudden bad.

To clarify, there is no room on this earth for behavior like that. I’m not racist at all, but I’ve often though the same thing as code red.

Wow. You guys sure are grumpy and take my comments out of context. I’m not racist… I was just calling attention to the double standard. And guess what, I don’t think anyone should be using the N word or any variation.

Peas and Carrots – It’s a very legitimate question that needs to be answered. As long as people like you avoid the question and think it’s OK then it’s never going away.

The answer is context. Think about how some women may call each other “b*tch” in an endearing way if they are close friends. Would it be okay for some guy to randomly come up and call her that because he heard her friend say it? It goes even further when you look at the historical usage of the word by white people towards black people, and all of the baggage it comes with as a result. It’s a story that still continues to this day, as evidenced by these videos. Why black people use the word is beyond me, but I don’t truly know what it’s like to be a black person in the USA, so I just have to accept the fact that there’s more going on in that dynamic than what I know about and move on.

She thinks turning off the faucet helps Syria. And that Syria is in Africa, apparently. Tuscaloosa needs to raise its admission standards for out-of-state applicants.

Sad to hear this young lady was expelled and was denied her freedom of speech. Mr. Harris, you’re completely wrong and we all know racism exist as it always has, what is obvious is that no one ever wants to admit that there are many black racist as well but no one wants to admit it and for some reason it’s OK. I hate to hear someone use the N word, just as I hate to hear honkey, cracker etc. But I think it ironic to hear many liberals (yes even Matt Jones) admits to liking RAP (sorry, it’s so hard to call it music when there’s no singing) and that word may be used 50-100 times in a single song while also referring to the women they’re (singing) about as bitches, Ho’s etc. I think it’s sad that in today’s world a RAPPER or Comedian can take the stage and get standing ovations for saying the same words you support seeing a white person expelled from school for using. With liberals having full access to the bulk of the media I think a lot of time people have a wrong idea of how much support one group or another has in this nation. There are a lot of white people in this nation who believe it or not are not racist but has very little sympathy for your concerns and agenda when people of your own race use the very same words while earning millions of dollars. There’s more of us who believe we should all be Americans first and none of us should be using words that hurt one another but lets be honest, we all need to be a little more thick skinned and parents of black children would can change how much these words are used by setting an example in their homes by not using them themselves and by not listening to those celebs who use those words. If your children seeing you laughing at the use of these words or saying those words during a RAP song then who is to blame. Will be completely shocked if this gets posted.

This is your perception based on popular rap. Also, she spoke freely and there are consequences for that.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences. She exercised her right to free speech, The University of Alabama exercised their rights to expel someone who had publicly embarrassed them. Everyone stayed within their rights.

I was unaware Congress had this poor girl expelled. Reading comprehension is your friend…

There are racists people in all races. The key is to not give them a microphone. Unfortunately social media, and really the barrage of media outlets in general make it easier to spread stupidity.

We all know racist people of any color has a major character flaw. But there are all kinds of character flaws. Let’s take Harris for example: No one in their right mind condemns this kid from picking Bama over UK for football, no UK basketball fans thinks twice about Jones not being at UNC, Vanderbilt and Washington at Texas/AM/TCU or maybe Knox at 6-7 different Florida schools. Arkansas fans hated Monk for coming here but we expected. Had nothing to do with their character, I don’t think any of them was using a school for big time NCAA basketball tickets 2-3 days before announcing their college choice because they hadn’t made up their mind yet. Funny how in 3 days when they do announce and asked “when did you decide on Alabama” and you answer “I knew 6-8 weeks ago please don’t question anyone else about their character.

There’s a huge difference between flirting with a sports staff for a few weeks to get some free benefits and openly hating and discriminating against an entire group of people based on the color of their skin and if you don’t understand that then you’re a lost cause

What I don’t understand, more than anything, is why people keep posting this type of rant to social media. You are going to ruin your life, cases of the same are everywhere. There is a true double standard, during the trevon Martin case, Zimmerman was depicted as racist (rightfully so) because he used Nword frequently. However, during same trial, a black female used cracker and honkie during her testimony, and judge ruled it was “cultural” and blamed it on her up bringing. However, anyone feels about said double standard, these are the rules we play in, so people should know posting a video to social media, on rascism is literally putting their career, and future on the line. By doing so, she was kicked out of the sorority she professed her love to, kicked out of school and depending on her career path, will struggle to find employment, all because someone posted a snake emoji on her instagram!!
