Damien Harris ran for 110 yards and one touchdown in the UA game

Damien Harris had a great Under Armour game in front of a national audience on ESPN2 this evening. He led all rushers with 110 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

Just when it looked like Harris was going to go scoreless in the game, he broke one loose in the fourth quarter for a 36-yard TD.

As sick as it makes me to write this, all of the signs seem to indicate Harris is heading to Alabama. Kentucky is losing another once-in-a-decade elite, homegrown back to the Tide. Apparently he was wearing Alabama gear more than once during this week at the Under Armour events. Also, Harris was said to be joined at the hip with Blake Barnett, who told he’s confident he will join him. Lastly, Harris sat with all of the Alabama commits during Wednesday’s media luncheon.

Andrew Wiggins did all those same things with UK. And who else is he going to sit and hang out with?

I’m just trying to be optimistic here.

Congrats to Damien on a great perfornance today. I’m proud of this young man. He’ll be great, and play in the NFL wherever he goes yo school. I just hope he wants to be a difference maker. Alabama’s record won’t change at all if he goes there; but he’ll add wins at UK.

I’m not so sure that coming to Kentucky is in Damien’s best interest if he wants to be a sure-fire NFL draft pick. How many running backs in our history have made it to the NFL? How many Alabama HBs have made it to the top in the past 4 years alone? If he comes to Kentucky, then that is great. If he goes to Alabama or Ohio State I definitely don’t blame him. Damien has to do what is best for Damien and I’m certain that wherever he chooses to play will be the right choice for him.
