Could Jeff Brohm Flip Wandale Robinson to Louisville?

@JeffBrohm, @Robinson_era

@JeffBrohm, @Robinson_era

If Jeff Brohm returns to Louisville to be the Cardinals’ next head coach, it will undoubtedly make in-state recruiting more difficult for Kentucky.  When that might happen could be sooner than you think.

After successfully recruiting Louisville four-star wide receivers Rondale Moore and Milton Wright to Purdue, some believe Brohm could add even more if he takes the UofL job before signing day.  Rivals’ Dave Lackford penned a piece, “Hypothetically Speaking, if hired Brohm could flip three to Louisville.”  Along with Wright and Moore, the third is UK commit Wandale Robinson.  Kentucky’s top-ranked commit addressed the speculation on Fox 56.

“I’m not going to say anything unless that actually happens,” Robinson said.  “Obviously, I’ll be a little open to consideration.  But as of right now, I’m still 100 percent solid at Kentucky, so I’m not really worried about other schools.”

On paper, the quote should not concern Kentucky fans.  What else do you want him to say?  However, the TV clip gives off a different vibe.

Louisville was never on Wandale’s radar, but he was recruited extensively by Brohm at Purdue.  They were finalists in his recruitment after he took an official visit to West Lafayette.

Robinson plans on signing December 19 and enrolling in the spring.  If Brohm is going to pull off something crazy, it must happen fast, all while Vince Marrow and Kentucky remain in Robinson’s ear.

    I won’t say it’s impossible, but I’d imagine if he wanted to play for Brohm, he would have committed to Purdue.

    Title of article should be… Brohm could flip Robinson to Louisville. The way you title it, you are asking a question and yes of course anything COULD happen.

    I think UK will keep Robinson.
    Bad news for Purdue is Milton is coming to Lou with him. Kind of dirty he is already recruiting for Lou while still being paid by Purdue?

    His statement effectively says “yes, I’d re-open recruitment.” And 100% solid in 18 y/o means “until I’m not.” If I were Purdue I’d be checking his hard drive and emails and texts bc if he’s going to UL and being a failthless employee of Purdue, they have every right to be pi$$#d. That’s the loyalty we hv come to expect from adults so why should kids be different…

    Clearly the kid will be targeted by Brohm if he comes to Louisville…..and from the quote it appears he would seriously consider what Brohm had to say.

    If Im Purdue and I can prove he is already recruiting for Lolville, I sue him.

      If he leaves they get a pretty fat check from Louisville. They have no incentive to make a big deal out of him doing anything.

    If he didn’t commit to Brohm at Purdue where there is the foundation in place for a successful team; why would he flip to UL; players have transferred, and they’ve lost recruits. It would take a couple of years to turn that program around. Petrino really did a number on UL.

      Fair question but I think Brohm is a hot coach, Purdue puts up big numbers, and Brohm will show him film of our offense and say “where will u get the ball more?” We hv a great QB recruit who might offset that fear… but it’s not the slam dunk it should be bc of our – how to say it politely – “lackluster” offensive.

      That’s *offense but offensive offense would fit. Lord, I hope we move it better tomorrrow, for the season and the future recruits’ sake.

      Good points; but, he’s an all purpose back, and runs, too. I don’t see UL OL improving much in 1-2 years; takes time.

      Short drive from Frk to Lex. Short drive from Frk to Lou. Longer drive from Frk to West Laf…

      There you go with logic, runningunnin. You need to drop that “keepin it real” sht right now or people will start to make sense of the world, the sky won’t be falling, etc

      Not click bait, young man said he would consider it. He also said he’s 100% committed to UK. Which doesn’t add up with I’d consider it. That’s typical, though, for 18 year olds.
      Nothing is 100% until there is a signature on paper.

    Help a school rebuild and play in the crappy ACC and not go to a bowl for a couple of years or play for a winning school in the SEC… No brainer. Why go from hero to zero? He isn’t gone.

      Yeah that 5-6 record at Purdue this year proves he’s the best coach in the world. We should be so terrified of him.

    As long as we have grandpa Eddie, why would the kid come. Remember Damien was considering us, but he strung us along. And history can repeat itself. Vince is one hell of a recruiter, but if Robinson sees himself going to a school with a offensive minded coach, he’ll go. I want to see him come here, but tomorrow will tell the story. Grandpa Eddie, you better throw everything on the field.

      Normally nick is a jerk and I don’t like his stuff. But I wouldn’t be shocked at all. I honestly think brohm is the next coach at Louisville and with the way he calls plays, it’s a wideouts dream. And can stay close to home. I hope not

    Why do kids even commit anymore? Clearly he’d be interested and will most likely leave. Stoops and company cant be happy to see that.

    • Shively1978
      7:10 pm November 23, 2018 Permalink

      Honestly because commitment means nothing to most of them. The Ncaa should do away with the signing period. If a kid commits to a school he should have to sign right then and keep his commitment for atleast one season. If at that point its not working out he should be allowed one transfer to finish his college career. Make up your mind before you commit to something.

  20. east-ky-boy

    As long as we play our style of offense, a receiver would crazy to come here but I hope he remains committed.

    This is just a bunch of homer speculation by a hack writer on a homer website. Purdue will block any player from going to Louisville, including Rondale Moore. He will probably transfer if Brohm leaves, but not to U of L.
