How was the concert last night? Uncle Matt, I think you should fill-in as a guest DJ and you could play some Conway Twitty. Maybe some 90’s country. Your DJ name could be Chuck Wagon.

and they will probably steal some of our first place votes to boot since their win was a road win… there will always be voters that won’t vote for uk… the downside to the “kentucky effect”

I am still not sold on Wisconsin…Duke played very well, but I saw a lot of weaknesses that I think UK could capitalize on. I still see Wisconson as the same team they were last year; quality team, but still not on the same level as UK/Duke.

Tyus Jones is the real deal but I recall that our own Tyler Ullis gave Tyus fits last summer. Duke is really good and it $^!&#*!ing pains me to say that.

The good news is that UK is also really good. I would still take us in the matchup but the game would be tight.

If you have a buyout and your coach leaves. You have that buy out money to help you get a new coach. Just good business. I think Mitch dropped the ball on this one.

    • Rixter
      10:24 am December 4, 2014 Permalink

If your coach leaves, you still have his salary money to give the new coach.. why do you need buyout money, too?

    • catdaddyd
      12:04 pm December 4, 2014 Permalink

If you are not going to have a buyout, then you shouldn’t have to pay the remainder of a contact when you fire a coach.

    • ukjaybrat
      2:15 pm December 4, 2014 Permalink

rixter – it’s just a common sense business practice. you don’t NEED the money to hire a new coach – esp not programs like uk. we got money. but when the program hiring away your coach is typically the one paying the buyout clause, it is a common practice to have a buyout clause bc it not only makes another program think twice before poaching a coach, but if your coach is poached, you get a little extra money to go after a better coach (or put toward you facilities or whatnot)
We offered to forgo the buyout in stoops’ contract as a sign of trust. let’s see if it works out. if it does, then it won’t matter. if not, well, we’re UK, our athletic budget can take a hit like not getting a buyout from another program.

catdaddy – that’s not how contracts work. the whole point of a contract is to guarantee getting paid. in exchange for guaranteeing job security. if you fire someone for anything other than legal issues, you have to pay them.

Penn State is a team that upset us while Tubby was here. And Ole Miss on Valentine’s Day in 1998 (although to be fair, we didn’t lose the rest of the season on the way to the title).

And I know Tubby did average a lot of points, but we did lose to Tennessee 47-46 on Jan. 12, 1999 when we were ranked No. 6. Ugly, ugly basketball.

Not players from Alabama. It was money.

They tried to hire Jimbo Fisher a decade ago but the Board of Regents nixed his contract because it was too expensive. And the Board also ended funding for a new on-campus stadium and practice facility.

Why would who is OC be determined if we get Harris or not, how dumb is that.

    • houndstooth
      11:08 am December 4, 2014 Permalink

The OC chooses the plays and how the offense goes (more run or pass) so a running back that wants to run the ball, like harris, will go will an OC that will help him get to the next level.

    • Time Expired
      11:21 am December 4, 2014 Permalink

You are missing my point. So many on here are more worried about weather we get Harris or not than an OC who could define UK for many years to come. This current team is groomed for the Air Raid or at least a pass oriented offense and to change all that for one player would set us back for years in my opinion.

I honestly don’t think a guy like Damien Harris should worry much about going to an offense that exclusively runs the ball. If I was him, I’d look for a place that uses the running back a lot in the passing game. A running back today needs to show an ability to get out of the backfield, catch the ball, and then make moves in space to get up the field. Looks like Riley’s offense at ECU really got the running back involved. Their No. 1 guy at RB had the third amount of receptions on the entire team.

Everyone forgets that 2 of our best WR Targets coming into the PRE-SEASON were Badet and Montgomery.

Badet took the Federer to the Eye and Montgomery had the continuous NAGGING injuries that sometimes accompany the return from ACL Injury.

BOTH RED SHIRT and we have a gaggle of Freshman to replace them.
Both those guys in the lineup and you have additional BIG Targets that know the plays and how to Play/Get Open against SEC Competition, not a bunch of Freshman that have to learn both.
I think Patrick & the new OC will have those guys, and this year’s returnees and we will have an “experienced” group of receivers that Towles can Count on.
I think next year we will see a HUGE difference in Patrick and the Offense.

    Go Cats!!!!

    Matt
I know this will be a unique thought for a liberal, but you should get your facts straight before you mouth off about the leftist lies you heard from the race-hustlers on MS-NBC. The criminal in New York had 31 prior arrests and the police, led by a black woman sergeant, had been asked by local black businesses to remove him from the premises to allow them to make a living. Being hugely obese and resisting arrest, they took him to the ground to handcuff him. As the Grand Jury knows, he was NOT CHOKED and did not die from choking. He died from complications of his obesity — a weak heart, asthma and diabetes.
If he had followed police orders he would be alive, as would the 6-4, 292 pound criminal thug teenager in Missouri.
