University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Cheick Diallo commits to Kansas

And in the worst timed news of the day, Cheick Diallo crushes Big Blue Nation’s excitement by announcing he will sign with Kansas, moments after Kentucky signed Mychal Mulder.

Diallo simply broke the news to ESPN.com. No hats or live streams or ceremonies. Just Paul Biancardi’s cell phone for Diallo’s big news.

Well that sucks.

UPDATE

Here’s a tweet from Diallo to confirm.

Why can’t these kids see what we see? He won’t play solid minutes at KU and Self won’t use him like he should as a freshman. He just lost several mil with that decision IMO. Best of luck to him- he will need it. Would have been great to have, but the loss doesn’t hurt us so much with what we still have in place on the front line.

Let’s get Brown and/or Murray and make another run!

Usually, who Self gets doesn’t matter much, but Wiggins and Diello hurt.

Gotten over Wiggins, but with him, we would have been that much better.

Diallo may have the same impact to us overall.

Has Cal ever missed on this many recruits? It certainly doesn’t feel like it.

Seems like UK isn’t the flavor of the month anymore. At least our 3 star players will be here for more than one year.

“Duke plays no defense and won’t make it past the sweet 16” and “UK would kill Wisconsin if they ever meet” – said UK BigBoard all year!

Never said that. In fact, I was worried about facing Wisconsin ALL year. In the end, they got us.

But it looks like you came back out from under your rock to defend your pathetic Tards again!

LOL. You all lost to an 8 seed, and finished 24-8, not 38-1.

If you’re Brown, and get to play the 3 with 2 good point guards, and you know you’re going to have no shortage of good shot opportunities, wouldn’t UK be a great fit? Who knew these shoe affiliations had so much pull..

Goes to Kansas to get as far as the sweet 16. Wise choice.

Well, that’s a huge blow. I wanted him the most. We even had more playing time to offer him than KU……..very strange.

I didn’t mind 1 and done when we were losing say 3…. But losing 5, 6,or 7 leaves a lot to be desired.

Agreed. It is a feast or famine cycle. Just hoping 2016 isn’t a repeat of 2013.

We only had 3 one and dones last year so we’re still on your pace…and if a famine is not winning the national championship then we’re going to starve because the greatest program in college basketball history has only done it 8 times in the 70+ year history of the tournament. The last few weeks have been disappointing but don’t let it take away from the greatest regular season we’ve ever seen and the best 6 year run UK fans have experienced in a very, very long time. Taking everything into consideration, maybe ever.

We have a lot of great players! Maybe not as many as we are used too with Cal, but more than enough to get the job done. We will be fine next year! Go Cats!

We already have a great team next year, good luck to this kid at Kansas. Man it’s going to be fun this year, no pressure and making the final 4 will be a a great.

This is the guy I wanted most. Self is no doubt telling him Cal to NBA.
I blame Slice for this one. Kansas wasn’t even I the picture till he left.

  14. BTownUKFan

The kid made his choice. My question to him would be “Name me one player that improved in one year at Kansas?” Wiggins went out with a whimper, Ibiid didn’t improve his game, what ever happened to Xavier Henry and Josh Shelby?
Look at the track record over the last 6 years. Cal prepares guys for the next level while most coaches use these guys to win ball games. But maybe we need to tone down the “you hate us ’cause you ain’t us”. It seems like the hate is starting to impact recruiting…just sayin’.

I just don’t get the feeling that Jaylen Brown lands here either. We’re still going to have a very good team but from a recruting standpoint, Cal has missed on a lot of players in this class. Makes you wonder if it’s a sign of things to come or just the perfect storm this year?

No big body down low spells disaster. From first to worst. Next season cant be over fast enough. .500 team in the sec at best. Cal choke in the ff and next yrs class.

UK will be much better than middle of the SEC, and considerably better than your cardinals team.

Your posts are also a scathing indictment of the public education system in this country.

People need to relax………We have a great point guard coming back……two athletic above the rim players in Alex and Marcus coming back…….Hawkins can play…..Willis will finally get his shot.

Threw in Skal, Briscoe and Mulder who are all ready to play and it should be an interesting team.

So we play 7 maybe 8.

We will be a real athletic team and fun to watch.

We don’t need Dialo we have Poythress and Willis two sure cant miss front line players that have been under Cal’s personal development to shine this season.

We had a lot of 5 stars last year and didn’t win it all. Cal can develop players. Have faith we will be ok.
