Cats in the NFL: Week 14 Preview

Only three weeks left in the NFL regular season, so we’ve got to soak up every last minute of Week 14. This week Josh Allen is back for the Jaguars, Mike Edwards is back off the bye, and a familiar face is activated for the Cowboys this afternoon. Let’s get into it.

1:00 PM ET: Titans @ Jaguars

1:00 PM ET: Chiefs @ Dolphins

1:00 PM ET: Vikings @ Buccaneers

1:00 PM ET: Texans @ Bears

1:00 PM ET: Cowboys @ Bengals

4:25 PM ET: Packers @ Lions

8:20 PM ET: Steelers @ Bills

There are some hefty matchups this week for the Cats in the NFL, but I’m really circling two: Pittsburgh-Buffalo and Minnesota-Tampa Bay.

Pittsburgh is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season after playing three games in 12 days and they’ll do so against another division leader in Buffalo on SNF. I think this will be a stellar matchup for fans in general, but as far as BBN goes it may be a little quiet. Bud Dupree of course is out for the year, Benny Snell’s role will likely be reduced with the return of James Conner, and Avery Willamson has hardly seen the field in Pittsburgh, playing an average of 32.5% of snaps since the trade. However, he did play 53% of the snaps against Washington so that might leave a little room for optimism for Williamson.

For the Bucs and Vikings, we’ll get to see Mike Edwards square off against Kirk Cousins as that Tampa Bay secondary tries to corral Justin Jefferson and Adam Theilen. It will certainly be a tall task for the secondary, but I expect Edwards to make a couple of plays today. This game has some playoff intrigue as well. The Vikings are still in the hunt while the Buccaneers are currently sitting in a wild card spot, but the Bucs still have A LOT to work on. My eyes will be glued to this game.

A couple of other footnotes for this week; Za’Darius Smith and the Packers can clinch the NFC North today with a win against the Lions and a Vikings loss. Chris Westry will make his Cowboys debut today against the Bengals this afternoon, as well. Randall Cobb also considers not returning this season after a toe injury placed him on IR a couple of weeks ago. We will get into that later today.

Until then, sit back and soak up Week 14.
