RIP David Bowie. Hopefully Shannon can que up some songs today.

Not a bad game for the basketball team.

Ugh. Bengals. You are like UK football. You always break my heart.

It always bothered me that he didn’t pronounce his last name like Sam did. Like he was from a strange parallel universe or something, but he didn’t wear a goatee like the Mirror Universe Spock.

No one is seriously rooting for Alabama tonight, right? Why root for a team that is in our conference and continues to destroy us? Not good for recruiting if they win, either.

    • Sentient Third Eye
      10:17 am January 11, 2016 Permalink

Because UK gets more money if Alabama wins.

      10:18 am January 11, 2016 Permalink

Yep. Bama will kill US either way, and it’s better for recruiting for us to be in what is objectively the best conference. If they lose, it makes the SEC look less convincing in that regard.

    • ukjaybrat
      10:23 am January 11, 2016 Permalink

on the contrary. one of the biggest reasons we recruit as well as we do (nationally) is because kids want to come here and plauy against the best of the best in the sec. if the sec isn’t doing as well, we lose that edge. they’ll want to go play in the big10, big 12, and pac12 instead

Besides, if Clemson wins, we get to listen to the bird fans crow about how they are now in the best football conference and they “almost beat” the national champion.

Matt, no offense, but if you’ve “always” thought it was this summer, why did you say two of the past three years that if he got through THAT summer, you thought he’d stay here? You keep moving the goalposts.

This^. There have been several “if he’s gonna leave it will be this summer and if not he will retire here” proclamations. He backed away from the one about “this” summer when Brad left the nest for prep school.

if he didn’t leave for lebron, he’s not going to leave for the nets and the dumpster fire of a team they will have for the foreseeable future.

UK jaybrat- agree totally. Dumpster fire may be a generous description for the Brooklyn team.

Jeezus Matt, Vanilla Ice took the beat from the Queen/Bowie “Under Pressure” song, not the other way around. My little nephew hear Under Pressure on the radio one time and exclaimed that “hey, they stole that from Vanilla Ice”. I almost threw him out of the moving car. Matt needs the same done to him. πŸ™‚

I cannot disagree with the above sentiment. Matt’s musical taste and knowledge is his Achilles heel. It really is one of the few areas in which I find Matt lacking. My 8 year old knows more about the law than Matt knows about music. Ryan’s political and historical knowledge may actually exceed Matt’s musical IQ. Otherwise, carry on.

All the above and Space Oddity, Moonage Daydream (Racer-X cover is great) and Young Americans. The bass line from China Girl remains unforgettable for me.Truly a prolific and talented artist who was both pop and alternative long before the alternative moniker became “cool”.

Growing up in the 80’s, I also have mad love for Bowie in Labyrinth.

My teenage years started in 1980. Loved that movie and crushed on Jennifer Connelly in a big way. Jim Henson and David Bowie was a great combination.

You’d rather have Skal than take the chance on Bolden? You’re insane. We know what Skal has to offer. He has made no significant improvement from the start til now. I like Skal, but he has no business playing right now. There are kids on the local high school team that would absolutely whip him inside.

    • kentuckyrld
      11:39 am January 11, 2016 Permalink

Skal has the skills. It may take some time for him to develop. People tend to forget that he has really played very little basketball. However, picking Skal over Bolden? That is a no brainer. Take Skal.

Some of our fans are ignorant. If you don’t see that Cal is a good coach, it’s because you don’t like the one and done thing, so you refuse to give him credit for anything else.

Coach Calipari is an excellent in game coach. Is he the best? Maybe. Maybe not. It is impossible to say who is the best because there are so many factors to be considered. However, anyone who says Calipari can’t coach is well, for lack of a better term, stupid.

I saw a post from a Louisville fan about them have the greatest basketball program in the country. Thought that was absolutely ridiculous. Even if you don’t want to admit it’s Kentucky, you have to say Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, or Indiana based on whatever criteria you want to you… But it’s certainly not Louisville… dude just called me a hater when I called him out on it… whatever … ignorance must be bliss…

Seems like Matt is the one who has a problem with John Vanetti. He should just be out there with it. Don’t project his feelings onto Shannon.

Regarding the UofL loss – my BOL is a huge UofL fan and UK hater. He never misses the opportunity to text my wife and I whenever UK loses. Tuesday night he sent one saying “Go Tigers” when LSU won the game. Yesterday my wife got the opportunity to text him back with “That’s right – GO TIGERS!” back at him. That was a beautiful thing. πŸ˜€

Devin Booker was not ranked 35. Matt said the same thing numerous times last year. He was consistently ranked in top 25 in most polls and even as high as 18 in ESPN 100. 5 stars aren’t usually outside top 30.
