Calipari to appear on “The Colbert Report” on April 23

CN_Placeholder

John Calipari’s national book tour will end on Wednesday, but UK has announced that Cal will be a guest on “The Colbert Report” on April 23. For those of you aren’t familiar, “The Colbert Report” is a satirical news show on Comedy Central hosted by Stephen Colbert, who plays a conservative political pundit similar to Bill O’Reilly. Colbert was just tapped as David Letterman’s successor at “The Late Show” on CBS.

Odds Cal understands “The Colbert Report” is just a schtick? If not, who wants the honor of explaining it to him?

So the book tour ends here. Does Cal get to have his hip fixed then or do we have to see him in a wheelchair? Take care of yourself for a change, Cal.

MTT, I glad you explained The Colbert Report is satire. Sadly though, it’s where a lot of people go to keep up on current events.

The Colbert Report is a better source for keeping up with current events than Fox, MSNBC, any major network or CNN.

To be fair, while satirical, it often presents a more fair representation of the issues than other news outlets. The comedic nature of the program allows for absurdities and hypocritical conduct to be labeled as such without the restraint of political correctness the often permeates into other outlets.

It is at least as good as any American TV national networks. I find BBC news to be among the least biased if you want to read what’s happening in the world. I prefer reporting to opinion. Have to admit, though, Colbert nails the satire. No telling what the new show will be like if he has creative control over what he does.

I’m sure Colbert Report will be treated will all due respect that the Bill O”Reilly show was just shown.

That crazy guy in the Bill O’Reilly post made my day. Defending him on every post.

Steve I would say that this site will have a full day of coverage for the Colbert Report, talking about how great he is and how in touch he is with all things on the left. He is the funniest guy ever remember and it’s only satire if it makes fun of democrats, but bold truth if he’s making fun of republicans.

Until Cal appears on “Big League Fishing” with Doug Flynn and Keith Munson, I will be unimpressed with the media tour. I want to know what kind of tweaks Cal uses on Herrington Lake.

People on the left are not intelligent enough to matter. They can be defeated in debate on any topic by anyone armed with rudimentary facts because emotion-based arguments are ultimately meaningless.

That would actually be hilarious if Colbert trolled O’Reilly like that. Could totally see him doing it. Cal obviously understands that the Colbert bump is what his book needs to finish his tour strong.

Crap! I think the American people are figuring out that the news now exists on Comedy Central, while the comedy exists on Fox News. Gotta do some damage control FAST! Quick, blame a foreign country and attack it!

The real comedy is in the White House, where poor Barry continues to be more out of his depth than any other leader in US history. At least it would be funny if he hadn’t destroyed the economy, made hope impossible for a generation, and emboldened a new Hitler to begin advancing. But like all great comedy, there has to be a tragic subtext, I suppose.

I just hope the new Hitler gets better mpg than the last one, and has a better sound system. You can bet I’ll be leasing one if it does. I’ll be listening to my Sean Hannity motivational tapes and sending hateful texts to that guy from Kenya.

I actually know someone who thinks it’s not a shtick, that Colbert is very cleverly pretending to do satire but all the while is getting the conservative message across.

    omg.

Not surprising many right wing loons didn’t get that Archie Bunker was an idiot…lovable yes…but still an idiot. The O’Reilly interview with Cal was a disgusting and blatant display of ignorance and racism. O’Reilly: “I don’t know if you listen to this rap stuff.. isn’t everyone swearing at you..do you have discipline there?” Lol!!!!!!!!!! wtf????? And yes JC knows about Colbert.
