Calipari played Pebble Beach on Wednesday

A little birdie told me John Calipari was hacking it up at Pebble Beach yesterday, but I’m not a blabbermouth so I kept that information to myself. Always protect the source, ya know?

But now that Calipari has shared the news himself on Twitter, we can now talk about how John Calipari played golf at Pebble Beach on Wednesday, the final day of his grueling April live recruiting period.

Calipari was out west to speak to some people at Wells Fargo, he says, and took advantage of the trip to get in a round of golf on the No. 1 public golf course in America. Admittedly not a golfer, Calipari didn’t post a score that will earn him an exemption into the Barbasol in Lexington this summer, but he does have some putting skills.

From Pebble Beach, Calipari will fly to Dallas for the first session of the evaluation period, which begins tomorrow and lasts through the weekend. He has several of his top targets to watch at the Nike EYBL, Under Armour and adidas events in Dallas, and he’ll probably keep an eye on Tyrese Maxey while he’s in Maxey’s backyard.

Maybe we can get him in the KSR golf scramble next month? I need a teammate.

Perhaps Cal’s meeting yesterday with Quade Green was only a myth.
