John Calipari finally got around to reaching out to two of the best players in the Class of 2019 today.
Kentucky’s head coach placed calls to Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine, two high school teammates up in New Jersey. Lewis is considered the fifth overall player and top shooting guard in his class; Antoine is the fourth overall player and top combo guard, per the Top247.
Together they form a lethal combination in the Ranney School backcourt, as you can imagine. I caught a glimpse of them up in New Jersey earlier this year and it was hard to believe they were only sophomores at the time. And for what it’s worth, Calipari was also in the building and he seemed equally impressed.
I have no idea why it took so long for Calipari to place a call to two of the best overall players in the upcoming junior high school class, but he knows a lot more about what he’s doing than any of us ever will.
Better late than never, right?
