John Calipari sat courtside with Devin Booker to take in today’s Nike EYBL action at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. It’s the opening weekend for the best recruiting circuit in the nation, giving him ample opportunity to watch his top 2017 targets in person.
The featured game of the day was a clash of centers. 6’11” Mohammad Bamba is considered the #2 player in the class of ’17, but Evan Daniels said he’s making a case to be #1. He lined up against the #1 player, 7-footer DeAndre Ayton, today and the two went toe-to-toe. As of now, Bamba appears to be a Duke-lean; Ayton’s top three include Duke and Kentucky along with Kansas.
This morning Calipari watched his #1 point guard target, Trae Young, and small forward Michael Porter Jr. Evan Daniels reports that he’ll pay an in-home visit to the nation’s #2 small forward, Kevin Knox, on Monday.
