Calipari at the Steelers’ Playoff Game

It’s no secret that John Calipari is a Steelers fan.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently playing the Miami Dolphins in the AFC Wildcard round of this year’s NFL Playoffs. Guess who’s in town.

Just 14 hours following a win against Arkansas, Coach Cal is taking a break from basketball to enjoy some playoff football. There’s nothing wrong with that!

It’s currently in the second quarter, with the Steelers in command over the Dolphins, 20-3. Former UK defensive end Bud Dupree started at linebacker for the Steelers, as he has one tackle and one hit on the Miami QB so far. Look for Dupree to continue his pressure inside the pocket.

Speaking of former UK football players, Randall Cobb is listed as questionable in today’s playoff match-up between the Packers and Giants. Cobb is still expected to play, and will be a much needed target for Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs.

As for Coach Calipari, he will return to Lexington tonight to rejoin the basketball team. There will be a walkthrough practice, followed by a team dinner. Earlier this morning, as Calipari was in route to Pittsburgh, the Wildcats held a weight lifting session.

Update: Bud Dupree

Too much time around James Harrison, perhaps?

That was a bang-bang play; how do you get a flag on that?

I’m sure that there are other college basketball coaches that take in NFlLplay-off, NBA regular season games and similar during their season, it’s just that no one else cares. 😀

Hate that was a flag. You are running full speed, the ball comes out of his hand maybe a half second before the throw. You need time to react when running that fast. People are not superheroes.

Or, they never played football. DuPree could never have stopped prior to that hit.

I think we are starting to baby these quarterbacks too much. Dupree’s hit was what football is all about. Quarterbacks can cash the checks but they cannot take the hit. To be fair though, there are quarterbacks out there that will take the hit. 🙂 This is the NFL and the Owners doing….
