While it was football time in the bluegrass this weekend, Calipari and his coaching staff were traveling across the nation to watch and recruit the best high school basketball talent out there. Coach Cal was in California yesterday (OMG HE’S GOING TO BE THE NEXT COACH OF THE LAKERS I KNOW IT….jk) to watch the Nike Elite Youth Basketball Tournament featuring several huge names in the class of 2015 and 2016.
Calipari watched Ivan Rabb and Stephen Zimmerman and teammates Jayson Tatum and Quentin Goodin in Sacramento, California. Also in attendance was “likely” new Kentucky assistant coach Barry “Slice” Rohrssen watching some players he had already made connections with while at Pittsburgh and hopefully/maybe helping out the Cats. Calipari will be in Dallas today for the Adidas basketball tournament.
Assistant Coach Robic was already in Texas on Saturday after spending Friday night in Pittsburgh. Robic got to see a monster performance from class of 2015 prospect Jaylen Brown as the small forward recorded 37 points and 15 rebounds in one of his games.
The future is bright…
