We all have had some experience with cancer, whether battling directly or dealing with it from family and friends. It’s a disease that can strike in so many ways to so many ages. Often times, money raised for cancer causes focuses primarily on the study of prevention of the disease. Things like the V Foundation have been leaders in attempts to battle this disease and those causes are incredible. But what about support for those who are currently battling the disease?
I got a message from a good friend yesterday about a huge UK fan named Tyler Beam. Tyler is currently in his 4th different battle with cancer. I don’t think any of us could blame Tyler for being down on life a little. But no. Tyler is doing some that nearly all of us not battling cancer would never do. He’s running a half-marathon to help support Gilda’s Club. For those who don’t know about that organization, it helps provide those battling a cancer a space to cope with their disease through activities with other cancer patients. It’s simply a way to keep life as normal as possible during abnormal circumstances. Beam has already raised over $25,000 running in support of the group and now he is headed to the half-marathon on Saturday to try and raise some more.
Beam has set a goal of $40,000 dollars for this particular run and he’s already made a large chuck of that through his hard work. I think his fellow UK fans could push him over the top. If you are interested in helping Tyler Beam in his run for the Gilda’s Club, you go GO HERE. But even if you don’t have the spare money, go to that page and leave a supporting message for Tyler and others battling various forms of cancer. No doubt we want to find cures for this disease, but let’s not forget that those people are trying to live normal lives while waiting for that cure.
