BTI’s Rants and Ramblings: State Football SEMIFINALS Tonight!

One of the better parts of the sports culture in this state is an extreme loyalty to one’s high school.  Some people consider their high school’s rival to be as important as their college one.  And while football still takes a backseat to basketball for most in this state, in some communities the football tradition is a source of great pride.  Well, the high school football playoffs began 3 weeks ago, with 24 teams now remaining for 6 state championships.  Each Friday I will update the schedule from here on out.  Along with the schedule, I have attached each team’s Lit Ranking before the playoffs began to give you a sense of the favorite in each game.  Those in bold are the defending champions.

Class 6-A (defending champion Scott County eliminated)
4. Trinity at 15. Meade County
13. Ballard at 6. Dixie Heights

Class 5-A (defending champion Bowling Green eliminated)
