The breakdown of the offensive production in various situations against Vanderbilt, as well as the combined season statistics through 10 games in each of those situations:

Run: 13 rushes for 87 yards (6.7 ypc)
Pass: 6-14, 74 yards, 2 sacks for -5 yards

Combined Season Statistics
Run: 146 rushes for 787 yards (5.4 ypc), 3 TD
Pass: 81-136, 940 yards, 6 TD, 6 INT, 8 sacks for -50 yards

RECAP: Those rushing numbers don’t look too bad, right?  Well if you take out the 66-yard run by Boom, you had 12 rushes for 21 yards.  The running game was basically ineffective.  The passing stats were pretty poor too, taking out Barker’s first 2 throws.

2ND DOWN AND LONG (6 yards or more)
Run: 10 rushes for 64 yards (6.4 ypc)
Pass: 6-7, 36 yards, 1 TD

Combined Season Statistics
Run: 71 rushes for 363 yards (5.1 ypc), 1 TD
Pass: 44-80, 447 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 4 sacks for -25 yards

RECAP: The rushing game wasn’t terrible here although a couple of the better rushes were QB scrambles after protection broke down.  The passing game was efficient but had no deep gains.  I think a lack of confidence in the QB’s was showing up here.

2ND DOWN AND SHORT (5 yards or less)
Run: 3 rushes for 24 yards, 1 TD
Pass: 0-4, 1 INT

Combined Season Statistics
Run: 38 rushes for 134 yards (3.5 ypc), 6 TD
Pass: 15-20, 108 yards, 1 INT

RECAP: The horrendous INT by Towles is highlighted here.  Just an overall ineptitude from the passing game.

3RD DOWN AND LONG (6 yards or more)
Run: 2 rushes for 21 yards (10.5 ypc) (converted 1 of 2)
Pass: 1-4, 8 yards, 1 INT (converted 0 of 4)

Combined Season Statistics
Run: 14 rushes for 156 yards (11.1 ypc), 1 TD (converted 8 of 14)
Pass: 38-69, 551 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT, 7 sacks for -47 yards (converted 23 of 76)

RECAP: Pathetic pathetic pathetic.  No breaking news here but the passing game was completely inept, including the horrible Barker Pick-6.  The one conversion was a Barker scramble.

3RD DOWN AND SHORT (5 yards or less)
Run: 4 rushes for 10 yards (2.5 ypc) (converted 1 of 4)
Pass: 1-3, 8 yards (converted 1 of 3)

Combined Season Statistics
Run: 25 rushes for 93 yards (3.7 ypc) (converted 14 of 25)
Pass: 8-23, 86 yards, 4 sacks for -33 yards (converted 7 of 27)

RECAP: Not much to say.  7 plays run, 18 yards gained, 2 out of 7 conversions made on 3rd and short.  Offense just couldn’t keep itself on the field.  Hurts the defense too.

Remember the good old days when Matt Roark had only 3 plays and we still beat Tennessee?
