A couple weeks ago I put a post on this website laying out the entire Joker Phillips recruiting era at Kentucky.  In all, Joker took 67 commitments as head football coach, and of that group of 67 guys, only Bud Dupree has been drafted into the NFL.  And of that group of 67 kids, 33 of them either transferred, were dismissed, or never made it to campus.  That is not a good record for Joker.  Mark Stoops has now had 2 1/2 recruiting class at Kentucky.  Of course the Class of 2015 we don’t yet know anything about.  But just how have Mark Stoops first 2 classes fared at Kentucky?  Below are each player from the Classes of 2013 and 2014 that committed since Mark Stoops became coach and how they have done so far.  Players in red have graduated.

Class of 2013
24 starts: Zadarius Smith (DE): 120 tackles, 10.5 sacks
21 starts: Javess Blue (WR): 72 catches, 1111 yards, 9 TD
15 starts: Ryan Timmons (WR): 77 catches, 874 yards, 4 TD
7 starts: Nate Willis (CB): 59 tackles, 1 INT
6 starts: Jason Hatcher (DE): 39 tackles, 3.5 sacks
5 starts: Steven Borden (TE): 7 catches, 96 yards, 1 TD
4 starts: Jojo Kemp (RB): 170 rushes, 805 yards, 7 TD
2 starts: Marcus McWilson (S): 40 tackles, 3 INT
1 start: Nick Haynes (OL): redshirt in 2013
1 start: Kyle Meadows (OL): redshirt in 2013
1 start: Jaleel Hytchye (CB): 9 tackles
1 start: Alex Montgomery (WR): 16 catches, 137 yards, 2 TD
0 starts: Jeff Badet (WR): 22 catches, 285 yards, 1 TD, 0 starts (redshirt in 2014)
0 starts: Regie Meant (DT): 18 tackles

Class of 2014
12 starts: AJ Stamps (DB): 56 tackles, 4 INT
4 starts: Ryan Flannigan (LB): 57 tackles, 0.5 sacks
3 starts: Dorian Baker (WR): 19 ctaches, 199 yards, 1 TD
2 starts: Garrett Johnson (WR): 22 catches, 271 yards, 2 TD
1 start: Boom Williams (RB): 74 carries, 501 yards, 5 TD
0 starts: Blake Bone (WR): 14 catches, 194 yards, 2 TD
0 starts: Mikel Horton (RB): 59 carries, 311 yards, 2 TD
0 starts: Kendall Randolph (DB): 16 tackles
0 starts: Corey Johnson (DT): 10 tackles, 2.5 sacks
0 starts: Matt Elam (DT): 10 tackles
0 starts: TV Williams (WR): 4 catches, 64 yards
REDSHIRT IN 2014: Drew Barker (QB), Tymere Dubose (DE), Mike Edwards (DB), Nico Firios (LB), Dorian Hendrix (LB), Jarrett Larubio (OL), Daryl Long (TE), Adrian Middleton (LB), Nick Richardson (OL), Thaddeus Snodgrass (WR), Bunchy Stallings (OL), Jared Tucker (DB), Kobie Walker (LB), Denzel Ware (DE), Darius West (DB)

A total of 42 kids committed under Mark Stoops and only 1 has left the program (Krok) and 1 was kicked out.  36 out of 42 kids are still in the program (4 have graduated), most have seen significant time on the field and the future looks bright for the UK football program.

What do you think after looking over these players?  Have you been happy with the production of Mark Stoops first 2 classes?

I’ve been happy with it. Need to give them a full 4 years to judge accurately.

Tubman’s status is known – he was kicked out of the university and banned from campus for 5 years. Hard to play football when you can’t get in the facilities.

Thanks- I thought this was known… I guess it wasn’t known by everyone.

Um…hate to be that guy, but how could 40 of 42 kids still be in the program when 4 have graduated? Also, you forgot to highlight Big Z in red as he has graduated as well. So 36 of 42 are still in the program. Still, not too shabby.

My guess is he meant not kicked off the team, forcibly removed, or in jail. I would love to see the same stat for Louisville’s team.

you guys need to quit screwing up BTI’s post with your facts … it’s amazing how many people write for KSR that appear they don’t even read the other posts on the site … just wait, at least 1 or 2 of the pics in today’s top tweets will become an entire article at some point this week when another writer sees the tweet for the first time
