Bohannon Takes Job at Auburn

Brad-Bohannon-Hug

@UKAthletics

2015 National Assistant Coach of the Year Brad Bohannon has left his job at UK to take the same position at Auburn. Bohannon had been with Kentucky for 12 years and was part of the first SEC Championship in school history. Auburn recently hired Butch Thompson of Mississippi State as their new head coach. The Bohannon hire is a high-profile move for Thompson and the up and coming Auburn program heading into 2016.

“Brad Bohannon has been a tremendous Kentucky Wildcat for the last 12 years. His dedication and commitment to the Kentucky Baseball program has been relentless. Brad and I began our relationship more than 13 years ago and I am thankful for his personal and professional contributions to our collective success. While I am sad to be losing a very close friend I feel extremely fortunate for the time we’ve spent together and will watch Brad’s career with a keen interest moving forward. Brad’s contributions will extend well beyond his time in Lexington and he will always be a part of our family.”– Gary Henderson

Kentucky will begin a search for a new recruiting coordinator and infield coach immediately. Best of luck, Brad.

    Nah, f that. Lateral move right there… Been with the program for 12 years and heads out to West Alabama for the same damn position? Maybe I’m still salty about Auburn’s football win over the Cats but that rubs me wrong and seems to be a slap in the face to our program. Let’s beat those Tigers this year Bat Cats.

      Auburn is all around better than Kentucky. Even a lateral move is still a step up for him.

    Certainly an upgrade…instead of looking for a replacement to replace him if MB was doing his job on this one we would be looking for a new HC since the season ended last year

    This is a great move for Brad. Have you seen the list of guys he’s brought into the program who are knocking on the door of the majors? Imagine what he’ll be able to do with better tradition, facilities and talent pool. Unfortunately UK baseball needs a major culture change to achieve what everyone expects and that kinda thing takes about 10 years. Best of luck to a great guy. This team will be in Omaha in 3 years, guaranteed.
