Is Petrino really coming back to Louisville? I honestly dont know what kind of emotion that would produce…I wouldnt be happy, mad, or upset… I guess you could say ‘dont care’ would have to be up there

JULIUS MAYS UPDATE: Scored 23 pts and hit 7 three pointers (4th straight 20+ game) to boost average up to 17 ppg.

Former UK player (kinda): Alex Legion is averaging 19 pts and 9 rebounds in the same Italian league as Julius. He is 6th in scoring and rebounding in the league.

And Matt, you did a great job calling the Iowa State game last night with Miles Simon. Keep up the good work!

However, Louisville is not alone in being enamored with Bobby. There is still a section of the Arkansas fan base that believes that Bobby should have never been fired. Why, during your radio program would you defer to a member of your staff (Brian, for example) in response to a callers inquiry just to cut him off again and again? This is what you do. Have you ever listened to your own show? I would suggest to you that you do. I’m not talking about your ‘schtick” where Brian plays the fall guy.

The key difference between UK and UL in this case is that Kentucky was DESPERATE to win last year. Louisville isn’t. It just does not make sense that they would compromise when they have moved that stage of their development as a program. They’re a better job than they were the first time Petrino came around. We will be able to compete and beat Louisville next season. Our guys made some real strides this year. Think about it: We had Mississippi St. on the ropes and they went and played great in their bowl game. We also played Vanderbilt really close on the road and they won big in their bowl game. We didn’t play good vs. Tennessee in the finale, but that was kind of expected as it is hard for a beaten down team to get up for the last game of the season. I saw tremendous improvement from this team this year and we were only a decent quarterback away from getting wins at Miss. St. and Vandy. I firmly believe this team makes a bowl game next year. I believe in Stoops THAT MUCH.

I also GUARANTEE that Barker is the starter as soon as the first game kicks off. If Stoops knows football like I believe he does, he had to be wanting to pull his hair (or what’s left of it) out of his head watching Max and Jalen struggle. Those two are just flat-out not good enough to be starters in the SEC. Barker may struggle a bit early, but Stoops is going to ride or die with him.

A billionaire donor to the University of Texas says the hire of new football coach Charlie Strong was like a ”kick in the face.”

Red McCombs has donated millions to Texas, and his name is on the north side of the football stadium. He publicly lobbied for Texas to hire Jon Gruden.

Hours after Strong was introduced Monday, McCombs complained to KZDC-AM in San Antonio that he was ignored in the coaching search.

McCombs said Texas got the selection ”wrong” and that Strong would be a good position coach or coordinator. He later said he would support Strong and wished him well when they spoke by phone Sunday night.

Current Bengals DC Mike Zimmer on Petrino in Atlanta:

Mike Zimmer on Bobby Petrino: “He’s a gutless bastard”

Posted by NBC Sports on October 20, 2010, 4:03 PM EST
Let’s just say Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer doesn’t look back fondly on his days coaching under Bobby Petrino in Atlanta.

    “He’s a gutless bastard. Quote that. I
don’t give a s–,” Zimmer said Wednesday, according to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

When Zimmer was told that responsible news organization may not be able to use “bastard,” Zimmer responded:

“How about this, gutless MF. You can use that.” (Awesome. Much appreciated.)

Petrino famously didn’t tell any of his assistants that he was leaving Atlanta for the head coaching job at Arkansas. On Sunday, Zimmer’s Bengals face a Falcons team that has been almost completely remade since 2007, especially on defense.

Meanwhile, the “gutless bastard” has Arkansas back in the top 25 in college football.

    “Woo Pig Sooie!“

UPDATE: More from Zimmer, via Reedy: “[Petrino] is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s
lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough
nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth.”

how quick people forget that Cal has been to 4, scratch that, 2 final fours… because… 2 were vacated, and suddenly Pitino is more corrupt because he had a personal mishap.
How quickly people forget Pitino saving UKs program after eddie sutton, how quickly people forget that he won a championship, followed by a runner-up, followed by a championship for UK. Lets be honest, Tubby is a great bench coach but that was pitino’s team and recruits who had just been to two consecutive championship games.

And you’re going to dog ul for possibly going after bobby p after yall wanted the same thing last year. No question he’s a tool of a person but that doesnt show on scoreboards, players love him. And dont be mad that he has beaten and undefeated against UK at 3 different schools (one being the a newer D-1 team named Western Ky.)

Actually not. Lincoln said find out what brand Grant was drinking and give it to the rest of his generals.

I think Louisville has found their brand – again.

word is that they are in negotiations with Petrino and his party is not liking the buyout numbers being thrown out there in the 15-20 million dollar range. Tells you right there he is not staying at UL in the long run…….its just another stepping stone.

All I have to say is this: UofL — Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me !

Timeline of the Petrino era at UofL:

2003 — interviewed for Auburn job; Jurich did not know, 1st denied it and then later admitted he did
Early 2004 — interviewed for LSU job; 5 days after signing extension with UofL and pronouncing his loyalty
Later in 2004 — interviewed for Notre Dame and Mississippi jobs
2006 — signed new deal with UofL and afterwards left for Atlanta Falcons

    UofL leadership are MORONS!
