The 2021 Mr. and Miss Basketball awards from the state of Kentucky have been announced. There wasn’t much shock or controversy this year as Lexington Catholic’s Ben Johnson and Franklin County’s Brooklynn Miles took home Kentucky High School Basketball’s most prestigious award.
For Mr. Basketball Ben Johnson, he lit up the scoreboard all year long for Lexington Catholic, leading the Knights to a 20-3 record before falling to Madison Central in the 11th region semifinal. One of the highlights of his season came when he scored 30 points in an 81-53 victory against North Laurel in early March.
Johnson is heading to play for Bellarmine next season. He becomes the first player from Lexington Catholic to win Mr. Basketball

Brooklynn Miles is also the first Flyer to win Miss Basketball. This season Miles led Franklin County to an 18-6 record and a victory in the Sweet 16, before falling to Anderson County in the second round. Miles will leave Franklin County and head down to *braces for impact* Rocky Top next season to play for the Lady Vols.
