Beers with Bernhard: Ernest Gose to the Brewery

We are switching things up a bit with “Beers with Beshear”. Since Governor Andy Beshear’s press conferences are becoming few and far between, we are changing the post to “Beers with Bernhard”. That’s me!

With taprooms, bars and restaurants slowly beginning to reopen across the state, the craft beer industry in Kentucky is starting to return to normalcy. Every weekend, I will continue to highlight a different Kentucky craft beer to show support of all the amazing breweries across our Commonwealth. And now that most are open, you can visit the taproom and try it yourself!

Mirror Twin Brewing: Ernest Gose to the Brewery

A boysenberry is a very large bramble fruit, considered to be a variety of blackberry. Possibly a cross between a blackberry and a loganberry or red raspberry or both, the dark reddish-black fruit has a sweet and tangy flavor and is especially valued for canning and preserving and for use in pies and cobblers (britannica.com).

I have never had a boysenberry before, so what better way to experience this berry for the first than in a beer! Mirror Twin’s Ernest Gose to the Brewery is full of boysenberry goodness. The flavor of the berry is prominent but not overbearing. For someone who did not know what to expect from the boysenberry flavor, I was pleasantly surprised.

This gose is a perfect beer for our hot Kentucky summers.

Style: Boysenberry Gose
