Beau Allen Named Winner of Louisville QB Club’s Paul Hornung Award

Kentucky football fans are likely quite familiar with the Paul Hornung award this season. The Wildcats current quarterback Lynn Bowden is a finalist for the collegiate-level version of the honor, which is awarded to college football’s most versatile athlete.

But a future Kentucky quarterback is also finding his name in association with the award. Lexington Catholic gunslinger Beau Allen has been named the winner of the Paul Hornung award by the Lousiville Quarterback Club, according to the Courier-Journal, which seeks to find the best football player in the state of Kentucky.

The local product passed for 3,862 yards on 248-366 passing to go along with 38 touchdowns and just eight interceptions this season. Not only was he the Knights top passer, but he was also the team’s leading rusher with 12 touchdowns and nearly 500 yards on the ground.

At 6-foot-2, weighing roughly 200 pounds, Allen is set to back up the likes of Terry Wilson and Joey Gatewood over the course of his first couple of seasons as a Wildcat, but there are high expectations for the three-star quarterback.

Allen has a chance to add to his hardware collection, too, as the Paul Hornung Award is just one of four player of the year awards in the state of Kentucky. The Gatorade Player of the Year, Associated Press Mr. Football Award, and Kentucky Football Coaches Association Award will all be announced in the coming weeks.

The future ‘Cat will accept the award during a luncheon at the Big Spring Country Club in Louisville on Dec. 17.

Congratulations to Allen – now let’s get LBJ the college award. Btw if ur watching, the first domino is falling in getting the SEC back to 4 teams in the NY6. Utah is being exposed. Oregon destroyed them and will go to the Rose and Utah should drop out off the top 20. If Alabama dropped seven spots for losing at Auburn on a couple squirrelly plays, the Utes who hv a bad loss and no good wins should free fall.

Meant drop out of top 10…. like 11-12, w AU and UA moving up. Now if OSU beats UW badly and OU drops Baylor, it totally reshuffles. UF up to 6. Bye Utah.

They should. Some of these teams in the top 25 would probably lose to Vandy.

If Lynn doesn’t win the award, it’s a crime. No one has been the player he has. Regarding the voting on the website I sent them an email because their website didn’t work on either my desktop or laptop. Wouldn’tlet me vote. Had to do it from my phone
