Drew Franklin is filling in for the vacationing Ryan Lemond today as KSR takes over Louisville.  Well, not technically Louisville.  Matt and Drew are giving away two tickets to the UK/UofL from Guy on the Corner Tickets.  Just make sure you’re at the Bearno’s in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  It will be a great start to an unusual rivalry Wednesday.

Hate it’s a Wednesday night game but it’s not like it’s a match up of the big 4, it’s just Lville so it’s not that big of deal to the rest of the country. GO CATS

Disagree somewhat; I think UK-UL game always gets a large national audience. Real basketball fans appreciate a hate filled rivalry.

How do the creators of the line not take into account that Cal is Rick’s daddy?

    • CATandMONKEY
      10:26 am December 21, 2016 Permalink

They only are about making the money even on both sides. They expect more cash on the Ville so they set the line to pull in the UK bets. As I understand it (minimally), the line will be continually adjusted in an effort to bring advantage to The House.

Please provide elucidation, anyone who has more wagering knowledge than I…93% of the audience.

I know nothing about betting, but it usually seems like Vegas predicts games pretty accurately. The fact that Rick has shown he can’t beat Cal should affect their prediction. In this particular instance, it seems a little like they set it in a manipulative way specifically knowing what Ky bettors would do.

I hope they NEVER have this game on a Wednesday night again. I could handle a Friday or maybe even a Thursday night, but Wednesday? Bleaccchhhh!

It just really takes away from the social aspect of this game. A lot of people like to go to parties for the game, or go to a local bar to watch it. That all goes away with a midweek game. I also think it is idiotic to have the NCAA championship game on a Monday night, but that is another matter.

And yes, I do realize that TV is driving all of this. Money just has a way of f***ing everything up.

    End of rant. ********

I’m completely with you on all of that.

Basketball championship i get because the final four is on saturday and those TWO games generate more revenue than just the one even if it is THE game. but ncaa football championship has no business being on a monday. that’s just dumb.

I realize the logistics would be a problem, but IMO, if they had the championship game on a Thursday it would be a lot better.

That whole “light the bridge” thing was a complete farce. The fact that they took down the site so that you could not see the donors anymore illustrates that it was a sham. I would be OK with it if a Louisville fan with deep pockets put in a large legitimate donation right under the wire, but the fact that they kept extending the deadline and then suddenly took down the donation page and declared Louisville the winner simply reeks of the same kind of corruption demonstrated by UofL themselves. It was like James Ramsey was running the whole thing.

I agree with Matt. I donated, but I sure as hell would have found a better cause if I knew they were going to cheat. At the very least, put the list of donors back up there if this thing is truly legit.

Oh it’s a complete sham. I guarantee it was someone connected to louisville athletics behind it. They can’t stand the fact there are more kentucky fans in this city than louisville fans.

They do crap like this because they believe the university of louisville and the city of louisville should be one in the same and it drives me insane.

    • J-Dub421
      10:34 am December 21, 2016 Permalink

I already sent a terse email to the waterfront board telling them that they cheated and that I will never donate to them again. Matt is right, they could have made this an annual thing and it would have been fun. The effed up big time.

How could the guy not know his Dad was a UL fan before the coffee mug thing?
My Dad and I listened to the ’58 championship game on the radio; and, like my Dad, I was a Cat fan for life. We watched the ’78, ’96, and ’98 title games together. Unfortunately, he had passed before the 2012 team….he would have loved AD.

    • RealCatsFan
      11:15 am December 21, 2016 Permalink

My dad is a Louisville fan; so was one of my brothers. My other brother is a UK fan like me, and I have a third brother who lives in Indiana and is a Purdue fan (although he doesn’t really follow sports – farm boy). We keep things pretty civil for the most part – my mom and dad are the rare breed who try to support both schools. I’m not the devoted hater of UofL that some Cats fans are – I prefer to reserve most of my ire for the true villains of college basketball like Duke, UNC, UConn, and to a lesser degree, Kansas and Indiana. UofL mainly provides me with a sense of amusement at their constant scandals and stumbles. 🙂

Totally agree about UL, I don’t really hate them, and I agree with your true basketball villains. I still appreciate what Rick did for us from ’89 to ’96. It is a great rivalry, and I believe most real basketball fans, nation wide, appreciate it. The scandals at UL don’t amuse me; they perplex me….how could they possibly continue down this destructive spiral?

My daughter is 14 1/2, and we just recently began allowing her to go on “dates” with her boyfriend. That usually just amounts to hanging out with each other at the house – supervised, of course.

The disconcerting thing for me is that my daughter’s first “boyfriend” was a Duke fan, and her second and current one is a UofL fan. Her and I are going to have to have a long talk. 🙂
