BBN at The Open’s Friday Morning Wakeup

us-open

Say hello to Brad and his dad at The Open at St. Andrew’s. As you can see, they’re representing Big Blue Nation while walking the Old Course during this weekend’s tournament. That one’s a bucket list for me. Enjoy it, guys.

Anyway, it’s like 5:00 a.m. in Vegas right now and I’m probably still out somewhere, doing things I can’t speak of. Luckily I wrote this before dinner last night so I didn’t have to cut the party short. Just read it like it’s new…

One last time to see the Cats in the summer league.

Pretty much every Wildcat that’s not with Phoenix is out of the summer league tournament, so today’s slate of consolation games is BBN’s last chance to see the guys in summer action.

Willie Cauley-Stein and the Kings will be the first to play today on NBA TV, followed by Julius Randle vs. Trey Lyles in the second game. Karl-Anthony Towns will play at the same time as Lyles and Randle on another court in an untelevised contest. Consolation play begins at 4:30 on NBA TV.

We’re excited to see all of the guys in action after our plans fell apart when they all got knocked out of the first round. Check back for plenty from Vegas once we get through the day.

Phoenix -4 was free money last night.

I tried to roll it over to the Connecticut Sun-New York Liberty game, but the time change threw me off and I was late getting to the sports book. That’s probably a good thing. Betting blindly on WNBA games is not a point in life I’m ready to meet.

De’Niro Laster is on campus today.

The former Minnesota Gopher arrived in Lexington yesterday for a visit and he is very high on the Cats. If he decides to transfer in, he will sit the 2015 season then be good to go in 2016.

A former teammate of Dorian Baker in high school, Laster left Minnesota to be a little closer to his hometown of Cleveland. He played in nine games last season at linebacker and would make a lovely addition to UK’s defense if he pulls the trigger and commits.

Jarrod Polson joins Ryan Lemond for KSR this morning.

Tune in to hear stories from Jarrod’s days at UK and Ryan’s stories from… well… just tune in for Jarrod’s stories.
