BatCats Sunday Morning Top 10

Good morning friends, it’s another beautiful summer Sunday in Kentucky and I plan on spending all day at the pool re-reading Harry Potter. But, before I escape into Hogwarts – here’s what you need to know today.

UK Baseball lost to 5-4 to NC State.

The BatCats played in front of a PACKED house at the Cliff last night but couldn’t get the win. They play again today at 1pm against Indiana for a chance to advance to game 6 where they would face NC State again.

Coach Mingione post game presser was full of awesome quotes

As if the BBN needed another reason to love this guy.

Shannon the Dude VS Tony Vanetti happened

There seems to be a lot of controversy over who won – Tony Vanetti took to Twitter to claim STD cheated to win. I’m sure the guys will have all the details on the show tomorrow but for now I’ll just leave this here:

Seems to me like that’s a Shannon victory.

Matthew Mitchell officiated a wedding

Former UK Hoops player Victoria Dunlap got married yesterday and of course Matthew Mitchell was the officiant.

If I ever get married I’m hoping he can do my wedding too.

HOCKEY

Man, we all know how exciting playoff hockey can be but last night’s game was intense for the city of Nashville especially. The Predators beat the Penguins 5-1 in game three last night. They’ll play game four tomorrow night. If you haven’t seen pictures or videos of the scenes on the streets in Nashville – go look some up. It’s crazy, I’m not even a Predators fan but I’m hype seeing the celebrations.

Mychal Mulder worked out with the Magic

According to the Herald-Leader, Mychal Mulder had a very promising workout with the Orlando Magic this week. Mulder’s dad told the Herald-Leader that he’s interested in the D-league to get his foot in that NBA door. So if you need another ex-cat to watch for in the NBA, we may have one! You can read the full article here.

GAME 2 TONIGHT

The Cavs and the Warriors are back at it tonight in an NBA Finals series everyone and their grandma’s dog could have predicted. Game 2 is tonight at 8pm – whether you watch it or don’t, you’re definitely gonna hear about it tomorrow at work. The Cavs and Warriors may be the two most bandwagoned teams of all time so even if the game is boring, Twitter will be fun.

Albert Pujols hit his 600th home run

The Los Angeles Angles player became only the ninth player to ever hit 600 home runs last night. He joins the likes of Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays. Even if you don’t like baseball, you gotta admit – that’s impressive.

Alex Poythress got in touch with his country side

The Clarksville, Tennessee native spent some time back home this past weekend doing whatever people in Tennessee do in the summertime and the Instagram pictures are golden. It was a multiple picture post but don’t worry, I took the liberty of screenshotting all of them for you.

This honestly looks like a super weekend, I’m a little jealous.

Can we go a day without talking about Lonzo Ball?

Apparently not because here’s some more news on him:

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Lonzo wants to go to the Lakers and through the help of his overbearing (and other choice words) father, he may get there. But not so fast – multiple people are reporting that the Lakers be not be that interested in Ball after all.

Man, it sucks when your dad costs you a multi-million dollar shoe deal and a spot on the Lakers  in the span of only a few weeks.

That’s all for me today, enjoy your Sunday!

Forgot about Ken Griffey JR. One of the only clean sluggers in his era. If not for injuries he may have the record.
