Basketball more dangerous than football, says KHSAA Commissioner Tackett

While speaking to Kentucky’s Interim Joint Commission on Education earlier today, KHSAA commissioner Julian Tackett provided an update on high school sports. Tackett didn’t offer much because he meets with the KHSAA board in a few days and there will be a lot of decision making done then, but he did say, “We’re looking at having fall sports,” which is nice.

KHSAA: “We’re looking at having fall sports”

Tackett also said they believe there is a greater risk in playing basketball than in playing football due to the indoor versus outdoor element.

“According to the sports medicine folks, (basketball is) more dangerous than football,” Tackett said Tuesday. “That would surprise a lot of people, but they’re talking about vulnerability to the disease because it’s played inside.”

It will be one of the many topics when the KHSAA board meets Friday, so expect some type of news about fall sports soon after.

Not rocket science to understand this. Clean air outside is always going to be better for you than being inside. Any bug has a better chance of spreading when it’s inside. They’ve known this since like world war 1
