Who was that crazy person who posted first in the show thread Thursday that said we’d win 5 games? Matt is away at a Tennis tournament…of course that means the Kevin Ware story is back in the news! Matt, when will you tell us the Alan Cutler story you teased during either the pre or post game show?

Was Saturday disappointing? Absolutely! Am I down on this coaching staff and this team? NO!!! If you had asked us 5 mins after Coach Stoops was hired most of us would have said this is a great hire but it’s still going to be a rough season (or two!). Then we got the “Air Raid” back and recruits started to roll in and we thought well maybe this year won’t be so bad after all, then unfortunately, Western smacked some “reality” back into our situation. We’re going to take some lumps this year. We have to stay behind this coaching staff and these kids so we show strong support and enthusiasm to them as they struggle with it and to the recruits that are (hopefully still) to come. I’m still all in with Coach Stoops and look forward to his continued improvement as a coach as well as the team’s continued improvement to competitive and then in a year or two a factor in the SEC! #GoCats #BBN

Well… Today’s show should be good. As uncle Matt said. UK is going to struggle this year.

It’s also Bobby P… He can make rocks move on a field. Just wait, he will be offered another job before the end of the season.

    2) I agree. One game doesn’t make a season, changes will happen and it takes a good coach to make them. Unlike Joker who stuck with his favorites, Stoops will bring a good team sooner than later. GO CATS!

  17. Clay the football Fan
    10:12 am September 3, 2013 Permalink

    OK, IMA BE COMPLETELY HONEST:

My name is Clay and I was the person that predicted a 41-10 blowout. I will gladly eat my crow, however through this I think that I was guilty of what many UK Football fans are guilty of. We have developed a false sense of SEC superiority when in all actuality, our talent level is closer to a mid-major school. Everyone stating that we “got the wrong coach” or “got outcoached” and many other things need to wake up. The team Petrino inherited is vastly different than the team Stoops inherited. Petrino inherited a team coached by Willie Taggart, a Harbaugh disciple at Stanford. If there is anything that they instill in their players it is fundamentals, physicality and discipline. Joker instilled none of that. Petrino inherited a RB that is in the record books with BARRY SANDERS and an All-American LB that is better than almost any guy on the defensive side of the ball for UK. The thing is, most UK fans don’t have a clue how college football really works. They think you can go out, get 4 and 5 star recruits, and turn it around in a year. It doesn’t work like that. If Saban (a previous college coach) couldn’t come into Alabama and do it (lost to ULM) in 1 year, why do we expect Stoops to do it? You cannot fix 3 years of bad coaching and bad habits in 2 months. This is a process, just like Stoops said….if you are already dogging him, get the heck off the train because I for one am sick of this negative attitude. Stoops will get it done, have faith and be patient. I still saw some good things in the WKU game….Timmons and Kemp were the fastest guys on the field for either team, but they made mistakes (missing blocks on screen’s) and you are going to have that playing this much youth. Whitlow came out tight…..it happens. Please don’t turn on him this early BBN, he is showing he will make adjustments by the look of his 2nd depth chart…. Keep the faith #StillOnStoopsTrain!

Chester is right about that. Our fans are idiots in many ways. Chester gets a little too worked up, though. You kick that field goal 99 percent of the time. If you watch NFL games as much as I do, you would know that. You very rarely — if ever — see a coach not kick it in that position.

  92. BigBlueAces
    10:31 am September 3, 2013 Permalink

Chester is right, right, right……You have to mathematically remain in the game. You HAVE to have the FG eventually. It might as well be right then. If you don’t get the first down, the game is OVER. Our fan base can be such idiots…..

  93. Dwayne
    10:32 am September 3, 2013 Permalink

Matt your argument is great only if we get a 1st down and eventually score a TD! We might have gotten the 1st down and still had to settle for a FG. Stoops made the right call by kicking the FG. We crushed Joker last year in a similar decision for not taking the points.

  94. inlinefor9

That game was such a let down. I knew we were going to be bad in a lot of spots, but I really didn’t think the D Line was going to be so awful. I’m still on board with Stoops and will be even when we go 2-10 again this season, but it’s going to be an embarrassing year.

    90) Petrino was actually pretty conservative I thought. There was a 4th and short I thought he would surely go for and didn’t. I think 10 times out of 10 you kick that Field Goal and keep your team in the game. I know it was traditional move, but with Max coming in I think they felt they had a good chance of doing something.

  99. HugoCabrera
    10:34 am September 3, 2013 Permalink

I respect the hell out of Mark Stoops for not saying what he really wants to say. This is a D-1 program that needs FUNDAMENTAL instruction. He’s not throwing any previous coach under the bus, but our best LB was unable to take a proper tackling angle, and our front 7 literally doesn’t understand gap assignments. Talent isn’t the problem.

That said, I think we’ll be a decent team by the end of the year. Honestly.

This is what joker left us with. No wr, cb lb, etc. imagine if he was still over coach how bright the future would be. Still a 70th or 80th, probably lower, ranked class coming in. For a coach to drive the program in the ground that fast he is worse then curry. How he even has a job now is beyond me. Is will take some time for stoops to turn this around

  102. Clay the Football Fan
    10:35 am September 3, 2013 Permalink

Problem with the D-Line is Stoops plays Gap Control defense, when your DT are as slow as Rumph and Cobble and spend the whole game on their back, that ruins everything……….LB’s were also bad at filling lanes and were undersized….we gotta get the athletes to play this system, right now, we don’t have the players

  103. Slash/
    10:38 am September 3, 2013 Permalink

You didn’t hear a lot of people saying we should have hired Petrino because Petrino couldn’t have beat Western with what UK had. I mean did Joker just completely quit recruiting players on defense? I don’t get it. Our defense looks extremely undersized!

Joker made our guys false start 6 times, line up 10 yards off the ball at corner, and made them not line up properly and get out schemed on defense. As soon as we get rid of these Joker players I bet we will start aligning properly against an unbalanced line.

Especially with a new coach and system I think you’ll see major improvements. Like a golf swing when you hit a terrible shot, and immediately know what you did wrong. You throw another ball down and hit the shot you knew you wanted to hit and smack yourself in the head and ask why didn’t I do that the first time. Stoops needs time. That’s all I’m saying about this year. Any win will be a positive this year.

I’m hoping that by the end of the year Stoops and this team surprises the hell out of some folks.

Football isn’t Basketball. It’s harder to take 22 positions and improve…not to mention Special Teams.

Joker Philips damaged this program severely. I don’t think many folks truly appreciate how deeply he cut program. He undid any and all improvements that were made by Brooks.

Barnhart was a jackass for allowing that to happen BUT he saw that it was time and admitted his mistake.

All you the jokerjackasses are to blame for this mess right along with the joke.
