Austin MacGinnis is going to the XFL

Former UK kicker Austin MacGinnis will get another shot at professional football, this time in the revamp of the XFL.

MacGinnis announced the news on social media Tuesday afternoon with a screenshot of his official invitation from XFL commissioner Oliver Luck:

The XFL Draft will take place in September after cuts are made across the NFL. The league is set to kick off in February of 2020.

If drafted, MacGinnis will play in one of these fine cities: Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa Bay or Washington DC — unless of course the KSR Football Podcast matches the XFL contract to keep him at home in Lexington.

MacGinnis last kicked for Memphis in the failed AAF league. He is still hoping to get a call from the NFL (and every GM in need of kicker is stupid for not calling him already).

Just listened to a sports talk show where they were discussing the Chicago Bears and about how neither of the kickers could be on the team at the start of the season. . . I really wish they had signed Austin.

Meanwhile, some kickers in the NFL can continue to miss PATs. Insane.

I think its kickoff issues not field goals that hurt him but i might be wrong… I’m a casual nfl fan
