Coronavirus has caused Kentucky’s first opponent to miss its last two practices.
Al.com reports the Auburn Tigers have not been on the practice field the last two days. The school would not confirm why they were absent, but sources confirmed it was related to coronavirus without sharing exactly how many players and staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.
Auburn most recently underwent two rounds of testing Aug. 13 and Aug. 16, each yielding zero positive coronavirus cases. All Auburn students began conducting in-person classes the following day, Aug. 17.
Auburn’s absence from the practice field is less than a week after Gus Malzahn ran a 90-play scrimmage at Jordan-Hare Stadium, an unusual way to end the first week of practice. Auburn is preparing to return to practice today, followed by another Saturday scrimmage.
The Tigers are scheduled to host the Kentucky Wildcats four weeks from tomorrow on Sept. 26.
