If Auburn intends to repeat as SEC regular season champs, it will have to do so without one of its star players, Mustapha Heron.
Heron announced his plans to enter the draft and hire an agent on Wednesday.
“It’s always been a dream to play at the highest level,” he told 247Sports. “Now is a better time than any other time. I’m coming off a pretty good season and the buzz is there and I feel like I’m ready mentally and physically.”
A sophomore in 2017-18, Heron averaged 16.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Tigers. He hopes to earn an invite to the combine in Chicago, but isn’t among the top 100 prospects on ESPN’s Big Board.
He joins Michael Porter Jr. and Robert Williams as the three early entrants from the SEC so far.
