Kentucky is one of four finalists for the No. 1 player in the class of 2019.

According to Evan Daniels of 247 Sports, Anthony Edwards, a five-star shooting guard out of Georgia, has announced his final list of schools in contention: Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida State.

Anthony Edwards
Shooting Guard | 6-5 | 215 lbs.
Atlanta, GA | Holy Spirit Preparatory School
ESPN No. 4 | 1 SG Top247 No. 1 | 1 SG
Rivals No. 3 | 1 SG 247 Comp.  No. 2 | 1 SG

In Daniels’ report, Edwards said he has cancelled his official visit to Kansas and has dropped them from his list. Instead, the 6-foot-5 guard will take an official to North Carolina from Monday to Wednesday and then Florida State next Saturday.

After that, Edwards says he expects to make a final decision in the next month.

247 Sports interviewed Edwards about his visit to Kentucky last week, who said he had a “great” time and appreciated the fans at Rupp Arena chanting his name.

“It was great,” Edwards said. “It was a great atmosphere, the game and the fans at the game kept saying ‘We want Ant.’ Coach Cal is a great dude. Kenny Payne is a great dude and I’m really close with Ashton [Hagans] and Tyler Herro.”

The pitch? Accomplish your dream of reaching the NBA like some of the best Kentucky guards have during the John Calipari era.

“They said ‘come here’ and said ‘you know we’ve had players similar to you that played here like Jamal Murray, Malik Monk, De’Aaron Fox and players like that.’ He said ‘come here so we can help you accomplish your dream,’” said Edwards.

The elite Kentucky target said his favorite part of the visit was during the player introductions.

“Probably the introduction of the game, when they called their names out and stuff,” Edwards said. “They turned all the lights out and then it got real blue and got real loud.”

You can read everything he said in the interview with Evan Daniels here.

Come on down, Mr. Edwards.

Player intros, including fireworks, are one of the more magical things about games at Rupp!

Georgia: Be the hometown hero, lose a lot, and have a creepy coach. Oh and lose to UK twice
Florida State: Where is that and who have they produced?
UNC: if you want the TV time, no classes, 4 years and not go to the NBA
UK: Its Cal, need I say more?

Probably the fact that they’re either lottery pics or 1st rounders anyway, and they don’t want to work their butts off to be the top pick…or receive a higher pick. Millions is millions, and if you want the glory immediately, you stay home or go to the lesser known schools. You do this also if you don’t want your weaknesses exposed. UK exposes kids, they either fix it with hard work, or they dive into obscurity. But…I’m sure Trae Young’s Hawks would tell you that.

Can someone remind me why Florida State is among his choices? Does he have a cousin who plays there or something?
