Analyst predicts Shaquille O’Neal’s son will flip commitment to Kentucky

Remember Shaquille O’Neal’s son, Shareef? This spring, Shaq went on and on about how much he’d like his son to play for John Calipari at Kentucky, but the four-star power forward committed to Arizona instead. Now, because of Arizona’s involvement in the FBI investigation of bribery in college basketball, Kentucky may be back in the picture.

247 Sports’ Andrew Slater predicts that O’Neal will flip his commitment from Arizona to Kentucky and that he will join his friend Bol Bol on an official visit to Lexington next weekend for Big Blue Madness.

“There are rumors that [O’Neal] is likely to decommit from Arizona, given the events of last week,” Slater said. “He’s likely to visit Kentucky on the 13th with his AAU teammate and friend Bol Bol. O’Neal’s father is reportedly a big fan of coach [John] Calipari.”

O’Neal averaged 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game for California Supreme alongside Bol. He’s considered the ninth best power forward and the 33rd overall player in the 2018 class by 247 Sports Composite. He doesn’t have an offer from Kentucky yet, but if he comes to town next weekend with Bol, that could change very quickly.

It sure would make his father happy:

Could we sneak Shaq in the games too if his son comes here?

Just having Shaq at Rupp often would be very cool! He’s such a big personality that it would have a great effect all around.

That would be very cool and it would give the CATS even more of a spotlight.

I’ve seen him play and was not overly impressed. He would be a bit of a project coming to Ky. He has talent but maybe not the desire to be really good…

Now, you have to think about this 🤔…..if (and yes I’m saying IF) this decommit from Arizona and commit to UK does in fact happen AND let’s even take this a step a further and throw in there that Bol Bol commits to UK as well, will this have an impact on the RJ Barrett decision……could be quite interesting!!
