Kentucky could have its next quarterback commit this weekend.  After finishing his official visit today, dual-threat quarterback Stephen Johnson II is expected to announce his college decision Saturday at 4:00 pm EST.

It shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Johnson will likely pick Kentucky.  Making a decision date as soon as you finish a visit usually means you’re going to go to the school you just visited, but college football recruiting is crazy.  Don’t call it a done deal until the fat lady sings.

A Commitment from Johnson would be a solid start for Darin Hinshaw, who told KSTV that choosing your QB is like choosing your wife.

He comes here he Will be the starter. This is the kind of QB the offense needs not someone standing still unable to avoid a sack, someone who has the ability to create time with his feet. Just look what Watson did for Clemson. Barker cannot do that.

He has to compete before he becomes the starter and that means beating out Drew Barker. The SEC is a different beast with the competition being harder than JUCO so if he will start , he has to prove he can beat Barker.

He transferred out of Grambling because he could not compete there. He went to a JUCO program that plays at a level marginally higher than mediocre high school talent. He will not have the luxury of playing against small and slow defenses like he has in the past.
This guy, competing against an immature head case at QB should be interesting to watch. We just better hope the incoming Freshman QB, does not leave, and is better than we expect.
I was expecting things to be better by the end of year 3.
Not hard to understand why we are no closer to .500 than we were 6 years ago.
Actually, if people really cared, they would be more concerned about the lack of performance and depth of the offensive line, defensive line, and linebackers, I mean, since every game is won or lost by those positions.
