The favorite American Pharoah won the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby. After winning the Derby on California Chrome last year, jockey Victor Espinoza once again wins the Kentucky Derby. American Pharaoh was one of two horses in the race for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. His other horse, Dortmund, came in third place. This is Baffert’s fourth Derby win, but his first win since 2002. Thanks to picture perfect weather, a record crowd of 170,513 witnessed the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs.

It appears Matt had some success at the Derby.

If you missed the opening of the national telecast on NBC, one of BBN’s finest Ashley Judd narrated an excellent video to start the Kentucky Derby coverage.

Congratulations, Matt! Out of the 848 trifecta combinations you bet, one of them hit. I bet you were still in the hole after the payout.

I rolled that Ashley intro back three or four times to watch it again when it was broadcast. It touched my Kentucky Pride nerve and made me miss my home state more than ever.
