I know I’m not the only one yawning this morning after staying up to watch last night’s National Championship. After a boring bowl season, I’d like to send out a thank you to Alabama and Clemson for making it worth my while.
For the fourth time in seven years, the Crimson Tide are National Champions with a 45-40 win over Clemson. Bama won, but it didn’t look like it, or feel like it until the 4th quarter when they recovered an onside kick and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. For those that shake off Special Teams as unimportant, that’s what separated the two best teams in the country. And for those who had money on the game, I’m sorry about the backdoor cover. If Nick Saban can find a way to smile, you can too.
Kentucky is a 16.5-point favorite over Miss. State
In his first year in the SEC, Ben Howland isn’t doing as hot as his counterpart, Avery Johnson. The Cats took care of one first year coach on Saturday, and the story should be the same tonight. Even though some expected the basketball to be pretty OK in Starkville this season, the Bulldogs are 7-7 with losses to Southern and
Andre McGee University UMKC. Last year’s #1 point guard, Malik Newman, was supposed to be their savior, but he isn’t even leading his team in scoring.
Tune in to ESPN at 7:00 for the call from Brad Nessler, Sean Farnham and Shannon Spake.
Stay Warm Out There
I shouldn’t be the one to tell you that it’s pretty freakin’ cold outside, but it’s pretty freakin’ cold outside. Congratulations to all of the kids who are out of school. To all of the city folk in school in Lexington and Louisville…
You can now watch Periscopes on Twitter
The live broadcasts were always linked to Twitter, but starting today you don’t even need the app to watch the Lemonds talk late night nasty in bed. You can even watch archived Periscopes from Twitter, unless Matt deletes it right away.
John Wall Hates Joahkim Noah as Much as We Do
I almost forgot how much I despised the former Gator’s face, until I saw Wall deny Noah access to the rim.
John Wall, like the rest of America, doesn’t like Joakim Noah. https://t.co/83gdOG6g7z

I Finally Finished Making a Murderer
And it lived up to the hype. Did it end how I wanted it to? No, but it was more satisfying than Serial, falling just below The Jinx when ranking satisfaction from a messed-up criminal documentary, which I believe is now the biggest thing in the entertainment business.
After I watched, I listened to Matt’s podcast with Louisville defense attorney Steve Romines. I wanted to talk about the result with others, but nobody could answer my questions like these two did during that podcast. You should listen to it if you haven’t. You should also listen to the new podcast Matt dropped last night on The Matt Jones Podcast feed, which has successfully made it to iTunes. Subscribe to the feed and he will be forever grateful.
