Adidas auctioning off a special edition shoe for all 50 states

Adidas called on 12 female artists to commission a special edition of its Ultraboost X sneaker for each of the 50 states in America. Each shoe will be sold in an auction today, July 11, with the proceeds going to Women Win, a charity that describes itself as “the global leader in girls’ empowerment through sport.”

Jen Mussari, an artist based out of Brooklyn, took on the task of designing Kentucky’s shoe and she chose to pay homage to the Kentucky Derby.

“To represent Kentucky and one of its most famed events, the Kentucky Derby, I used mint and roses,” Mussari explained.

Here it is:

Now let’s ask: Would any of you wear that shoe?

If so, you can place a silent bid here. The current price is currently at $260 for the Size 7 shoe.

That thing is LOUD.

I’d sooner wear the thorns from the roses and the horsecrap from the paddocks

These are almost as ugly as the Zubaz/camo uniforms from the NCAA tournament a few years ago. At least these won’t be on my TV for the next several weeks.

Business insider has each shoe individually showcased on their website. Kentucky and New Jersey most definitely have the most hideous of the bunch. Most of the shoes are somewhat tame, but that thing that was designed for Kentucky is absurdly hideous. A two dimensional design would’ve been a much better option. Then again, I suppose these are not really meant to be worn. Whatever, some schmuck will likely pay well over a grand for these things, which is fine because it goes to a good cause.

I don’t think this will persuade UK to leave Nike.

Matt Jones and Jon Miller are the only 2 people I can think of that might wear this shoe…
