Mark Stoops’ 2015 recruiting class experienced a lot of late decommits. It turned out to work in Kentucky’s favor, but Mark Stoops is using this weekend to make sure that isn’t replicated in 2016.
This is the official visit weekend for most of Stoops’ commitments. The instate stars — Kash Daniel, Drake Jackson and Landon Young — have visited plenty of times, but will receive the 5-star treatment today. They’ll attend today’s basketball game and make sure the Ohio guys aren’t going anywhere. Six from the state of Ohio in town; QB Gunnar Hoak, RB Benny Snell, WR Dakota Holtzclaw, DB Tobias Gilliam, LB Roland Walder and punter Grant McKinnis. DB Jordan Griffin rounds up the list of commits officially visiting.
There’s also a chance we might have to whip out the Yahtzee! dice. Stoops’ staff is looking to build bulk with the last four scholarship spots.
JuCo DE/OLB Jordan Bonner is a Cleveland native that was one of the best pass rushers in the JuCo ranks this year. The Cats will have to beat out Tennessee to add the potent pass rusher to next year’s roster. DT Trysten Hill recently decommitted from Georgia Tech and is expected to officially visit, putting a potential Yahtzee! in place. Stoops will try to get another pass rusher to follow in his footsteps with a decommit. Jaquwan Nelson from Ft. Lauderdale committed to Miami back in March, but the Cats are pushing hard to change his mind.
This weekend could make or break Stoops’ Class of 2016, which currently ranks 26th in the 247 Composite Team Rankings.
