A Five-Star Defensive Tackle is on Kentucky’s Campus

One of the most talented football players in America will be in the stands at Kroger Field this afternoon.

Five-star defensive tackle Lee Hunter is unofficially visiting UK this afternoon. A 6’5″ 295-pound five-star recruit, the 247 Composite ranks Hunter as the No. 28 player in the 2021 class and the fourth-best defensive tackle. He already holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and two dozen more schools.

Hailing from Eight Mile, Alabama, it’s safe to say Jon Sumrall is doing some serious work on the recruiting trail in the Deep South.

Hunter isn’t the only talented player on campus this weekend.

Four-star 2020 offensive lineman R.J. Adams is making a return trip to Lexington. The No. 12 offensive guard in America was committed to Penn State until the day after he officially visited UK for the Florida game. Adams will choose between Kentucky, Penn State, LSU, Miami, Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee N.C. State and Florida State on December 18.

Not trying to be the party poopers here but sadly I wouldn’t get our hopes up with this guy BBN! He probably is going to Bama!!! However you never know with recruiting. It would be awesome to get a guy that highly touted especially when it’s consistantly not getting the 5* talent that is currently keeping Kentucky from becoming a true consistent SEC contender on the level of Georgia, Florida, and many of the teams in SEC west which of course includes Bama, and LSU. Without that 5* talent Kentucky has pretty much reached the peak of their potential as a team. It only takes getting one 5* or so to speak “tipping the first Domino over” to continue to attract and land more 5* talent. It’s the situation where getting one this year becomes getting two next year and when getting two that year becomes 3 or 4 then next year and so forth. We need that mix that’s how Alabama, Ohio St , Clemson,Georgia,LSU and other football powers continue to have elite teams year in and year out.

First off, you have to be a UK fan to say “our” hopes.

Second, we’ve got a 5 star committed in the 2020 class. No reason we can’t in the 2021 class as well.

This defense is getting better and better, and Hunter would be surrounded with well developed and talented depth by the time he comes in to Lexington. There’s every reason TO come to Kentucky. Fewer and fewer reasons not to come.

Would love to see both Hunter AND Adams in UK Blue! They have to be able to see what we’re building!

You do understand that there are only 30 fiver stars every year in highschool football. Four stars are not something to frown upon. I think people see the five star and think that kid is going to be for sure a monster. Also stoops and staff have shown especially on the defensive side of the ball that they can take kids and turn them into nfl caliber players. Now don’t get me wrong I’ve stars are nice but getting 3-4 in a class will never happen unless they are mostly in state recruits and it happens to line up for us. But the way this staff is recruiting they have been able to see talent no matter the star rating and have been able to coach them up to where they have been better then some five stars over their time here at Kentucky.

The thing that has separated Stoops from other UK coaches is his recruiting. A 5-star recruit may have visited UK before Stoops.

Micah Johnson was a 5 star with one service before his commitment to UK.
