Tonight we share with you two tales about fathers and the special bond they share with their sons.
One of them has spent early mornings in the weight room with his son to help him become one of the best football players in the nation. He isn’t just making sure he’s doing enough reps, he’s right next to him, doing them with him. From Alan Cutler at LEX18:
The other father loved to coach his son, more than anything in the world, but sports didn’t stick like they did with Landon Young. Yet Ryan Lemond still could not stop crying when discussing the lesson he learned from his son, Gavin, on his 18th birthday.
Sports bonded my dad and me. I thought sports would do the same with my son. It didn’t. I had to come out of my “sports closet” and open some new doors to find a way to bond with Gavin other than forcing him to bond with me over sports. My two younger sons love sports, and they enjoy going to games with me and watching games with me. It’s been easy to bond with them over sports.
That’s what Gavin was teaching me.
If you think Ryan is just Matt’s “doofy sidekick,” you’ll learn a lot about Mr. Lemond in his touching tribute on Vaughts’ Views.
