5-star WR Jermaine Eskridge teases that tomorrow will be a “huge day” for him and the BBN

Kentucky’s Yahtzee storm of commitments has turned some heads this week, including that of Jermaine Eskridge, a 2018 five-star wide receiver from Tampa, Florida. Eskridge first started flirting with the BBN on Twitter yesterday, but now his tweets are getting downright explicit. He just posted that tomorrow could be a “huge day” for himself and the BBN:

“Huge” is an understatement. The 6’3″ 180 lbs. Eskridge is considered the second best wide receiver in the 2018 class and 26th best player overall. Landing him would be like landing John Wall in terms of impact on the program. Yes, getting him to stay on until Signing Day in 2018 will be difficult, but the momentum his commitment would bring to UK would be unparalleled.

Patrick Loney says the announcement could come early tomorrow morning, so stay tuned…

Hoping to keep commits for 2017 18 months out is pretty optimistic. 30 months from signing day for 2018 is kinda hard to get too excited about.

Look at it this way: at worst, we have 30 months to use him as advertising for other recruits!

    Chances of actually signing him?

Stop being Debbie Downers. Yes he may never play for us but still…just getting attention from 5-Star recruits is huge. Like Mrs. TT said it will bring huge momentum for us in recruiting. Plus we will have the recruiting edge over other suitors when they come calling if he has already prepared himself to be a Cayt.

2nd best wideout? There are a couple clips of him catching screen passes or short outs, otherwise it’s all of him as a defensive end/OLB. Kind of hard to get excited about the “2nd best WR in the class” who only has a few clips catching a couple short outs in his highlight reel. Plus- dude’s only played FRESHMAN football. Means nothing at this point.

Do you really think that he wasn’t playing varsity football as a freshman? The dude is 6’3″ 180 and just look at the video. That is not a freshmen game.

And we got the number 1 center in the nation coming in next year, and he’s never played center in a single game. Big deal.

Who is his recruiter from UK? Is there a chance he is messing with us? I thought he was all about Florida a few weeks ago.

What is his connection with UK, or does he have one? This just seems random considering the other schools on his list and him being from Florida. Would be like John Wall choosing Auburn! Just curious, would definitely be ecstatic to get a commitment from him!

You do realize that nearly the entire UK staff came over from Florida State, right?

I love it when the UL fans come in here and say “Will you sign him tho?” Shut up and go follow your pathetic team.

There was a point in time (very recently) where a player of this caliber wouldn’t have even considered Kentucky. This is a nice indication of progress being made.

So is he being recruited as a WR or a DE? He looks to be a much better DE than a WR. 5-star is a stretch from just watching that video. Not saying he’s not good, he is. I’ve just seen others just as good. Youth has a lot to do with it. He’ll get better physically and mentally.
